    Chinese SKS....What to do.

technically its not original anymore since it was finished at least once already. So if you like doing that sort of thing and would like it lighter color, why not. Stripping and sanding it again will only smooth out any original 'character' of the wood that might still remain. But - look at...

Anyone satisfied with a cheap red dot?

I have and really like a mid-price Vortex Strikefire ($149) and a TruGlo red/green dot ($50). The TruGlo is doing very well on my Saiga .223. I have the vortex on a saiga 7.62.

Anyone still into and shooting SKS's ??

I tried to sell mine but couldn't get what I was asking for it. So back in the closet she went. Prices sure have come down on them at least here where I live. Good for buyers. Not a good time to sell them for anything.

Whats a good .223 AK rifle to get

Saiga 223. Only takes Saiga magazines. One 'conversion' is to add a bullet guide that enables it to take AK mags. The other conversion replaces and moves the trigger group forward, installs the AK pistol grip and AK buttstock. My Saiga 223 is stock, except I put on a Tapco telescoping pistol...

    Mosin thread...

yeah Hatteras - I agree. I love pulling out the milsurps. My M39 first time out with it, first shot, I got the bullseye. Lucky shot - I'm not that good :) But it is very consistent. My K31 too. But think about guns and technology - in the end, you have a widened part of a barrel for the...

what is it with the magnet thing? I don't get that. Have never encountered a range that had that requirement.

Is 1980s Yugoslavian surplus ammo non-corrosive?

who here cleans at the range right after shooting corrosive? I mean, pull out the spray bottle of windex or soapy water or whatever and what, just squirt it down the barrel and pull the bolt and squirt it down too? I'm 45 minutes from the range where I normally shoot and I do the thorough...

Need advice for an economical Bolt Action Rifle

I really like my Savage Model 10 .308 with Bushnell elite 3200 scope. The gun was $397 with a cheap bushnell scope. I replaced it with the elite 3200.

    Westernfield in 30-06

okay... silly me.. went and stared at it again. It's a "Westernfield" by Montgomery Ward. Model 730. Used to have a nice jeweled bolt - that is pretty worn. Bore looks pretty good.

    Westernfield in 30-06

yeah, it's interesting. I had to double take, but clearly "Westerfield". And Montgomery Ward. I forgot to jot down the model number - it was something like Model 780 or something like that.

    Westernfield in 30-06

    Saiga Update

I hear ya. I have a Saiga 223 with the standard stock and a Saiga 7.62x39 with the RAA skeleton stock. Initially, I didn't like the skeleton stock, but after a few shooting outings, I love the skeleton stock pistols style grip much better than the standard stock on the 223. Actually, after...

DId it turn out as a marketing flop :Ruger 556

at $1500 it's just too freaking expensive. Maybe when prices - not just Ruger prices - come back down to earth, they'll sell a few.
