    One Eye or Two Eyes

FWIW, I was taught (learned?) decades ago that all handguns were to be shot with both eyes open. Just the opposite for long guns, either irons or scoped. The advent of red dot sights (no magnification) brought back the need for two eyes with the long gun when using a rds. Seems to me I read...

    A very merry Christmas present:

Tell the kids "Nice job". For those of us into guns, this is one of the better kinds of Christmas presents. (AND, you never should have sold it in the first place!!!)

    Handgun for bear defense

Canada Bro, I still say it's better to ship any guns and pick 'em up once he gets to Alaska. Here's a link for a web page talking about guns into and out of Canada. http://www.panda.com/canadaguns/#entering Looks like it theoretically possible to take a handgun through Canada, despite what...

Has anyone here ever owned/used a Hi Point gun?

A buddy of mine has four of them now, one 9mm carbine, and handguns in .380, 9mm, and .45ACP. I've shot all of them. Here's what I'd say: HEAVY guns. All of 'em. Even his .380 is heavier than my Kimber .45. Strange trigger pull... not bad, just different for me. Reliable. He claims...

Please help me get my Dream Rifle... The Garand!

Bumping the thread I guess. I'm an Indiana resident and I, too, wonder if our CHL will be good enough. Although I DID take a Michigan CCW class just for the heck of it and have documentation that I completed it, including range time. I wonder if that would be sufficient???? Any Indiana people...

Monster Hunter International: Review thread with SPOILERS!!!

Here's my take, for what it's worth. I loved the humor. I had for a much more entertaining read than I think it would have been without it. Enchanted Forest Trailer Park and Elves, for example. But even this was made better by the enthusiasm that Owen's buddy had for "ELVES!" (Sorry, I lent...

THR member publishes a novel, and it is gun related, oh, it is gun related...

I got my copy and patch in yesterday's mail. WOOT!!! :):neener::D:):neener::D:):neener::D:):neener::D:):neener::D I managed to get around 100 pages into it when we lost power around 7:30 in the evening when thunderstorms rolled through the area. The wife thought I was crazy when I dug...

Need pic of Kitten with AK

It's not the famous white tile, and it's got the obligatory arfcom toes, and there's part of another cat, but this might work also.

Tip, reading glasses for target practice

Reading / Safety Glasses I just recently saw some of these for sale in one of those specialty type catalogs you get, like Herrington or something of that ilk. You had you choice of diopter ratings and either clear or tinted lenses. I'll see if I can find them and if so, will post info...

    Win. model 94

I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert on gun values, but if what you've got is just a run-of-the-mill '94 then I can't see any reason NOT to refinish the wood. It seems that there isn't any emotional reason why you'd want to leave it the way it was when you got it, so that's no reason...

The same type on gun for CCW and HD?

I Seem to Be Thinking Differently Hmmmm. All the responses I've seen seem to be pointing toward the use of a handgun for HD. My thoughts strayed from this path. My CCW is a Kimber Compact CDP. When I get home, it comes off the belt on gets put onto the dresser closest to my side of the...

Awesome Letter to the Editor in Washington Post

Although the sheer mass of stupidity in this country never ceases to amaze me, I would be surprised in Mr. Conte's letter is not satire. Just imagine talking to someone who says they agree with Mr. Conte. Me: "So, we need to keep the laws that prohibit criminals from getting guns? Them...

"I believe in the Second Amendment..."

Right. The Leftists can say with a straight face that they believe in and support the 2nd Amendment but what they say under their breath or to themselves is that believe in and support THEIR interpretation of the 2nd Amendment (which doesn't do anything for individuals).

Concealed carry and the anti-gun wife

Wife was "Anti-", just Neutral My wife wasn't anti-gun when we first started living together, but wasn't positive either. She was 42 and had had zero experience in her entire life with guns of any kind. Not even BB guns. She knew I was into guns from the very beginning. Once I'd moved...

Being pulled over: stay in car or get out?

I've been on both sides of traffic stops. I was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for 11+ years, worked an eight hour shift on average every other weekend (Friday or Saturday nights 7:00pm - 3:00am). As an officer, we expected people to stay in the vehicles. It was easier to keep track of things...

    Has anyone used this holster?

While I can't speak to this particular holster I have several with snap loops in my collection that are made for 1 3/4" belts. When I wear aa 1 1/2" belt I cross the loops into an X... back loop onto front snap and vice versa. Works well for me, but again YMMV.
