My 870 used to jam. I had to break it in. 500's are definitely more reliable right out of the box. Take it for what it is. If your heart is set on a 870 than get it and shoot the hell out of it. If you want a 500, rest assure that it'll work from day one.

I'm in the market for a either a 17 or 19 as well. I think that if I wasn't going to carry, it's definitely gonna be a 17. But if I'm going to carry occasionally, it's definitely going to be the 19.

Great gun. I have a USP9 with the factory match trigger that I use primarily as my range pistol. It's been flawless over 4K rounds. They truly are well built. Can't wait to get my hands on a P30L.
