What have y'all found is the cause of most problems in the AR-15?

Cleaning the BCG. It sh*ts where it eats making it a PITA to clean. That's why I went with a gas piston setup on one of my carbines, and plan on converting more of them. Magazines are also a weak point. Dents or bent feed lips put them OOS real quick.

    1000 M1 Garands per DAY!!!

1K rifles per day is quite a feat, and a testament to the great industrial power this country once was.

    Do you own a .22?

I have a couple Ruger 10/22s, and Browning Buckmark. I'll still have them when everything else is banned.

Turn down the bolt on M24/47 Mauser?

Your question got me thinking, as I'd like to change out the straight handled bolt on my 24/47. I checked with Numrich. Their website says they're sold out on the M48 bolt.:( You could try a "WTB" ad...

Rifleman = 500 yard Torso shots???

That's what we did on the KD course at Edson Range. Except it was 500 meters. We started at 200, moved back to 300, ended at 500. Rifle qualification at the 500 yard (or meter) line required firing on a man sized target. Not hard to keep them in the black on any given day using an M16 in the...

Why buy an SKS? Why not?

I have a few. I do know people who poo poo the SKS since it's "not as accurate" as their AR15s. It's much more reliable, tho.;)

Having the Battle Rifle Bases Covered...

Contrary to popular belief, the AR15 and AK are not battle rifles. The M1, M14, FAL, and G3 (CETME) are battle rifles.

Any Advice for a SHTF Rifle Under $1500?

Nice FALs you have there Kris. I recommend the FAL also. It's tough to beat a 16" barrel with an adjustable gas system. 7.62 will handle all two legged threats in SHTF. Now there's also railed handgaurds, railed receiver covers, and differing folding stocks for them. Everything to make it...

    Piston Driven AR-15s

It's not fair comparing civilian owned AR15s to the military M16 series of rifles. Not many AR15s will be fired nearly as much as a military rifle. That siad, I own a gas piston AR. A LWRC conversion. It works extremely well.

    Getting to my children upstairs

I'm a firefighter. Interiors stairs are the best means of egress in a fire. If the fire is on the first floor blocking your egress, stay upstairs, close all upstairs doors, and move near a window. Solid wood interior doors can slow down the spread of fire. If you're lucky the response time...

    NJ Gun Grab

I live on the PA side of the river from Jersey. Also know as "Free America". The wife and I like to visit the Jersey shore, but that's about it. I'll never live in that Stalinist cesspool. Back during the AWB days I did pick up a pre-ban M1A with all USGI parts (except for the SA, Inc...
