My sons Stevens 243 is the center feed and its not that difficult to load even by my son. I dont care for designs looks but it works.

I think that the Stevens rifle has been changed from staggered and is no longer manufactured with that design. Someone can correct me but I think it was changed in early 2009. I love my .223, its not pretty but its a great farm truck gun and its handled the bumps of tractor duty pretty well...

Hunting LA (lower Alabama) I have seen and taken alot of hogs in the 100 - 200 range but not any 400 lbs. I have killed probably 5 a year for last 2 or 3 years. A good deer rifle will do fine. Also they stink horribly so be prepared when you clean them and cook them. Some times its hard to handle.
