    Noise effected by barrel length?

Off the top of my head, I'd say maybe, but not in a big way for a handgun. The sound is caused by rapid expansion of gases as they hit the air. Suppressors work by giving the gases a place to expand without hitting the outside air. If your barrel is longer, the gases have more room to expand...

Bill Brady for Governor here in Illinois. Pro 2A, supports legalizing CCW.

Something tells me it needs a bikini calendar above the long guns.

    Gun Laws in CT

If I get the job, I'll be working in Stamford. I'm thinking about taking the train from Norwalk every day, because where I'd work is like a 5 minute walk from the Stamford train station. I've mostly been focusing on towns with a Republican Mayor/First Selectman.

    Gun Laws in CT

I'm looking at Trumbull as a top candidate for a move. Any other towns in SW CT that are semi-cooperative?

    Makarov Question

Bought it today. It is indeed a Mak, not a PA-63 or a CZ-82. S/N indicates it was manufactured in 1987. But it looks like it hasn't been fired much at all. Could it be a lightly-used milsurp weapon? I'll post some pics when I pick it up on Monday.

    Makarov Question

Local store has a used makarov for $179. Fixed front and rear sights. Looks like after-market rubber grips. On the left side it says "PW Arms Redmond, WA." It seems to be in excellent condition, bore is great. Finish is nice. Gun feels solid. The Blue Book says these should go for around...

    Pmc .38 spl

Thanks to everyone who helped me out. Took it to the range today. Shot about 50 rounds of PMC and a few loads of WWB with no misfires. Guess that fixed it.

    Pmc .38 spl

Then my guess is that someone at the retail store I bought it from loosened it in order to simulate a light trigger pull, in order to generate more sales. I probably won't be buying from them again.

    Pmc .38 spl

I figured out some of what you were talking about. Took off the grip. Found a screw that pushes against the spring running up the grip frame. It was indeed not fully tightened. I bought the gun new, so I'm not sure who did this. Anyway, I tightened it up fully. I always clean every...

    Pmc .38 spl

No, haven't shot it in anything else. Is this something I should consider sending it back to Smith for? I bought the gun only about a month and a half ago.

has NRA brought a shall issue case for New Jersey Yet?

The decision said the regulations must be reasonable, which precisely means that patently unreasonable regulations, like cosmetic-based laws, can be over-turned. Moreover, the regulations making it very difficult to obtain a pistol purchase permit or FID can be challenged as de facto denials of...

    Pmc .38 spl

So I was at Cabela's the other day and found a bunch of PMC .38 for dirt cheap. I decided to try them out in my S&W 627 PC. So I bought 250 rounds. Yesterday the Mrs. and I went to the range. Now, every once in a while I've had a failure to fire on my revolver, using WWB and UMC. I've...

    buy a handgun? No Way-

Stoeger Cougar. You can get it in 9, 40, or 45. Very cheap. Insanely reliable. You pull the trigger, it goes bang every time. I've put about 1700 rounds through mine, only one problem: A double feed when the gun was very, very dirty (hadn't cleaned it since last range session). Light...

Massad "SIXGUNS AIN’T JUST FOR SENIORS"

I'm 29 years old. First gun was a semi-auto Stoeger Cougar 9mm. Then I realized something: Revolvers are wicked cool. So I bought a S&W 627 PC. Revolvers are a lot of fun, very reliable, intrinsically more accurate, and the 357 is kills bad guys dead.

To Hell and Back by Audie Murphy, the most highly decorated US serviceman in WWII. Very good.

    The .30carbine....Revolver?

Audie Murphy prefered the M1 Carbine to the M1 Garand, in part because in tight situations it was light enough that he could grip and shoot it one handed.
