I've been involved in training/teaching various arts for close to a half century. In a nutshell the "ground game" has changed self-defense as we know it. There id no one art that will make you proficient in all areas. Your wants/needs may be too broad for studyof one syatem. It...
The first handgun I ever purchased was a Ruger Security Six. I bought it while in the military, in 1976. I very much regret selling it.
I never forgot that Ruger and it started a passion for Ruger as well as S&W revolvers.
Going shooting with grandpa is like business associates going golfing. It's more about life/business/values/tips/companionship/brotherhood/love etc. than it is about the actual reason to get together. Your grandpa using shooting to get your undivided attention, was a VERY wise man.

Go Monarch - it's brighter and if you change rifles and hunting situation, you might NEED the brighter scope.
That said, I've got a 2.5-10x Monarch on a 7MM WSM I'm taking to Africa. It's that good of a scope.
I didn't see the second page and it...
You'd certainly come out ahead selling a NIB gun rather than buying a new cheap scope to sell make a used gun with a used cheap scope.
I concur. Leave the rifle in the box. Don't chance scratching it while mounting a scope.
I've had this 94AE .44 magnum for several years now and I like it fine. I put a Williams receiver sight and a Lyman brass bead front sight on it. It is a fun little rifle and shoots good enough with hand load XTP's...same load I use in my .44 mag revolvers.
I think this version was called the...
My 16" DD M4 is 'yote accurate. That's well within specs of it's intended use. Prarie dogs? My Remington 700 in .204 Ruger.
Today's quality M4 carbines are as accurate (for the intended targets) as the old 20" military rifles. Today's 20" rifles are silly accurate and prarie dog accurate at...
In live in the suburbs of Ft Worth. I retired from the city and am still here to help my 84 year old mother. When she's gone, I'm going back to the Florida Keys. I'm not a deer hunter so the Keys will not stop my type of hunting: large predators and my bucket list must have, African Safari.
The boss grew up in a very protected environment. How sad.
When I was a Cub Scout, I got my first knife. After getting permission from my teacher, I took the knife to school for show and tell.
Years ago I saw a guy that had a "pouch" in the tip of his finger. Inside the pouch was half of an injector razor blade. The pouch was made in a manner such as today's piercingd. He got very drunk and cut a slit between skin layers at the tip of the finger. He inserted the blade. Usung...

In my half-century study of the various arts, I've become proficient in the use of a number of traditional weapons. My yearlong battle with numerous back...
I applaud the lady for bringing swift justice to the punks, but she need to learn to let the pros do their job. If they were coming out, she was within her rights to shoot and protect her property.
Thanks for the news, Deaf. That's a familiar name from some other forum.

"He who runs away, lives to fight another day"
The "fence" being open hands with palms facing the aggressor is a natural Baguazhang hand position. It is actually a fighting stance to those in the know.
It took years to completely understand the importance of my exercise "Bagua circle walking." Sifu told me I would understand, in time. It allows me to always be elusive, on balance, and within range to disable someone. To an aggressor, he cannot follow me without losing ballamce. Therefore, he...
I'm old enough to have heard the rumor "everyone (LEO included) must fire a warning shot before shooting someone). Anyone not an attorney, generally held that true. Information was not available in days gone by.
I live in the suburbs and a shotgun is the most valuable defense tool for me. If I lived on a ranch or farm, where I might need to make 100 yard shots, I would prefer a carbine.
That said, I'm prepared to move ANYWHERE because I have the appropriate tools.
