    Remington 700 hang fire problem

Clean out the bolt body, firing spring might be binding in old gunk inside and slowing down the firing pin Mike

How to break the bond of Acraglas Gel?

I was under the impression that putting the gun in the freezer overnight would do the trick, it has done for me a couple time. I soon learned not to use the Brownell's release agent, but floor wax, no more stuck guns. I use electical tape ahead of the bedding area as well, to float the barrel...

    Barnes Revisited

They never shot well for me, and if you don't push them fast enough they will not expand. I bought a box in 6mm and they shot all over the place. I complained and Barnes asked for the lot # on the box, I told the rep on the phone and he said that lot of bullets were made offshore and were not...

Novice Trap Shooter Needs Choke Advise

I'll second the 1100 or 11-87 12 ga. Soft to shoot, last forever, parts readily avaialble and used ones are inexpensive Mike

Cast lead bullets for the 9.3x57

Hi, I just bought a Husqvarna Model 96 Mauser rifle in 9,3x57 I'd like to cast and shoot lead bullets in this nice old gun, the Lyman 336408 mould is what I need but it's out of production. Where can I get a mould like the 366408? I imagine it would have to be a custom job, and I'd like...

What is your favorite powder for reloading .45acp?

Geen Dot, as I have lots of it for my shotshell reloading. Herco too, as I have a pile of that too. Titegroup for my 38 Special wadcutter loads for my S&W 52-2 as a little goes a long way! Mike

First try at .38 Special reloads...

I crimp my 357 jacketed bullets so I do not see the cannelure, the brass is crimped into it. Look at some factory ammo. Your bullets are out too far, in my opinion. Mike

I need a good quality cheep over & under

I think that is a nice gesture you are proposing. I really think a used o/u shotgun of good reliable make is better than a new one. Try and find a used SKB o/u or Browning Citori, both built like a tank and will last for years. I have a cheap Turkish made semi-auto I bought for a junior...

    mauser K98 rebarrel

I have a military Colombian Army model 1898 carbine in 30-06 with a 17 1/2" barrel, made by FN in the late fifties. I'm going to get it rebarreled and the gunsmith said he would rather go to 7mm Mauser as he says the longer cartridge will feed better that the chubby 7-08, my first choice. Mike

Case base broke off... remainder stuck in chamber

OOps, taking the bolt out won't work with a lever action. Anyway brushes work for me. So how did you get your bacon saved? I used to work a a Referee with USA Shooting and spent a lot of time at Ft Carlson near Colorado Springs, what a beautiful place. You can contact me at [email protected]...

Ammonia based solvents hard on barrel?

Do not leave Sweet's in the bore for long, 1 hour max. Ask me how I know, I did leave the bore of a 308 wet with Sweet's overnight and it etched the bore badly, I had to re-barrel the rifle as it fouled with jacket metal after a couple of rounds. Mike

Case base broke off... remainder stuck in chamber

Remove bolt, place 38 or 45 cal bronze brush on cleaning rod, push into chamber past the case mouth and pull her out. First try a 38 cal brush down from the muzzle, these broken-off case bodies are usually not hard to remove. Mike

    yugo sks sticky bolt

Next time you have a separated case, just push in a 38 cal bore brush into the chamber from the rear and pull the case front half out. Did you bulge the chamber? Heat from the molten lead? That would cause extraction problems, or else you have crap on your chamber walls. I have loaded brass...
