I could be mistaken, but I'd be willing to be money your revolver is an M1917. They were originally WWI issue revolvers to supplement the M1911 pistols they couldn't produce fast enough. Is it chambered for .45 ACP? If so, it's a Smith & Wesson M1917. I believe some soldiers still used them...
