Why No BCM Lightweight 14.5 Carbine?

Because the midlength gas system length offers smoother action cycling and better handling than the carbine system. The little extra distance closer toward the muzzle reduces gas port pressure which allows the action to stay cooler and gas port erosion is minimized compared to carbine system.

    Heavy .357 Coated Bullet Load

I designed and commissioned MBC to cast and sell the 180gr WFN bullet. With Hodgdon data for the 180gr Nosler bullet, you won't run into pressure issues. The Lee manual has cast data for 200gr bullets that will be fine to use with the 180gr bullet.

Anybody Using Winchester Auto-Comp in 45acp?

I don't care for it. It doesn't gain you anything that another powder can't already do and to be real useful you need to venture beyond the published loads to get anything decent out of it. Should have stayed an OEM powder instead of entering the canister powder realm.

    reloading for friends question

No one has ever had criminal charges brought against them or been convicted or been put in prison for loading ammunition for others with compensation. I'd like someone to prove it otherwise.

Reloaders prespective on a medium bore.

I say get a .358 Winchester and shoot cast bullets. Don't get hung up on velocity. Jacketed bullets need high velocity to do the work of slower cast bullets.

    Why JHP over FMJ?

Unfortunately not as successful as cast bullets have always been.

    Why JHP over FMJ?

The JHP was developed by SuperVel company and their marketing strategy to get law enforcement sales was to create an overblown proportion of pass-throughs in police shootings using FMJ bullets. The agencies bought into it and now that's the standard defensive bullet style today.

What can I do with not reloadable 50 bmg brass?

3/8-16 tpi tap in the primer pocket with a seated bullet makes for a nice tap handle that sells for $15 on eBay. I've sold untold thousands.

Price Gouging - Who is & Who is not?

People that complain about prices in any market are the same that think they are entitled to a certain price.

Why isn't billpay more popular for auctions/sales?

Never heard of "bill pay". Cashier checks and postal money orders have worked fine for years.

How many FPS to not lead up the barrel?

Variables that cause and prevent leading: Alloy hardness and bullet obturation Bullet sizing Lube quality and quantity Powder selection Bore condition It takes a certain pressure and velocity in order for a gas check to perform its best. A great majority of the time it's not needed, but is a...

What Was the Powder Used During Early Vietnam?

The .223 Remington was not developed for use with ball powder. It was developed for use with extruded powder.

I am looking into forming an ammo manufacturing company. $ requirements?

Yes. Jeff Hoffman reloaded the ammunition for his police department using a Dillon 1050 in his garage. That's how he/it got started.

I am looking into forming an ammo manufacturing company. $ requirements?

Investment for one set of machines and tooling for one bullet and load will be north of $500,000 with all those machines. Best thing at this point is to contact Silver State Armory. They have a consultation staff that can help you.

Brand names for reloading dies... does it matter?

Die brands are like truck brands. They all have their quirks and benefits. I have used several different brands over the years. There is no perfect die brand. I've used Lee, RCBS, Dillon, and Redding. I use Redding nearly exclusively. I like Lee's universal decapping die and their collet...

    H414 and .308 Win

Use the 165gr data for H414/W760. Start a half grain or full grain lower than published start charge. Bearing surface will be different than the Hornady soft point they used, but even at the published start charge you shouldn't have any surprises. H414/W760 is a good powder to work with.

    Switching from H335 to W748

That is completely false. They are not the same powder. .223 69gr SMK 24.5gr W748 is 51.5K CUP max load 24.5gr BLC(2) is 40.6K CUP starting load All else equal, same bullet and charge, the W748 MAX load of 24.5gr is almost 10K CUP higher in pressure than the START load of an equal 24.5gr of...

    Texas hunting with sidearm question.

So by that, you don't understand the culture here in MI, so I'm then allowed to post the word ****** whenever I am speaking about Blacks? ****** is very common in a large community here too. Why is ****** blocked out then? It's as much of a racial slur as the term wetback. In your area, wetback...

    Texas hunting with sidearm question.

If this forum's administrators tolerate racial slurs on this forum I don't want to be associated with it any longer. I don't care if it's common in TX. The "n" word is very common here in MI to refer to Blacks, but I bet you wouldn't tolerate its use on the forum. Take care.

    Texas hunting with sidearm question.

I don't care where you are, that language is unacceptable, especially on this forum. Seems if it's tolerated the forum should be "The Low Road". I thought we were better than that.
