Anyway for an 18 year old to shoot in or near NYC?

Right in Manhattan, my friend... http://westsidepistolrange.com/ I haven't been here, but I've heard of it. P.S. I work in Manhattan, but commute from the land of the free, PA.

Phoenix Cabellas Trip last night: Ammo bubble has burst.

Lucky and cheap... I didn't buy up (i.e., hoard) during the panic. Judging from a quick anecdotal survey of online purveyors, with the exception of 9mm, it looks like ammo is becoming more available and the prices are coming down. There seems to be even a fair amount of 5.56 for sale...

    Mini-14 SS Ranch Rifle

Mine eats pretty much any ammo...with Ruger factory magazines. I've never tried an off-brand magazine, but I understand they generally don't work well with most minis.

    Need advice for compact 9mm

Another vote for the PM9 (I guess the CM9 is pretty similar). At one point in time I compared the respective specs of the PM9 and the G26. The PM9 is significantly smaller and lighter than the G26. The G26 is nice...but not in an ankle holster. The Rohrbough is way too pricey. (Hey, I'm cheap.)

Best air rifle for target practice and varmint control

How about a fully auto BB gun? Like the Drozd: http://www.drozdmax.com/bb-machine-guns.html Even if you don't kill the chicken, it might still be fun.

    What 9mm Next?

Gently used Sig P228. You can probably find a made in Germany model in your price range.

What is the last gun that you bought?

    That is one purty revolver!

    Glad I moved to NJ!

NJ ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER SCHOOL GROUNDS PENALTY INCREASE Possession of all BB guns and air guns would carry 7-10 year prison sentences with no possibility of leniency. Parents picking up their children at school after hunting or target shooting would also be at risk. Victim...

    Dealing with the suspicious character...

Sounds like a story to me. To your point, if there was a judgement, there should be record of it somewhere.

Glock Guy Goes to Dark(er?) Side...

They feel REAL GOOD in your hand. Plus snob appeal - similar to why someone will buy a BMW X3, when arguably a Honda CRV is "just the same." That said, an HK is still toward the top of my wish list. And I have a CRV, not a BMW - go figure.

Yeah. That might be a problem.

Pictures of your range shooting wounds

My wife made the mistake of wearing a scoop-neck shirt to the range once. Got a nice little burn between the, ahem, cleavage from a hot casing.

Been Through Many "Pocket" Guns - This Might Be IT

I called Kahr on the partial drop thing. They're intentionally tight and not meant to completely drop. That said, the representative indicated that if you send in the pistol, Kahr will loosen - or tighten - the magazine/mag well. Owner preference.

Glock Guy Goes to Dark(er?) Side...

Of course, the price adds to the allure...

HKs are beautiful guns. I just choke on the price.

Brand new Marlins..... are they really that bad?

Good point. I don't see much news about 870s being POS's. They still seem to be the consumate pump shotgun.

    Why the fuss?

I may be missing something, but why all the outrage over the "no firearms" signs in various businesses. The signs are primarily there for tort liability reasons. If you have a legal CCW permit, who's going to know you're carrying as long as your gun stays concealed. Discretion is the better...
