New knife for $100 or so

So I made my choice. I went to Bass Pro to handle a few knives and see what I liked. I didn't see that I needed to spend $100 on anything that isn't any better than the Endura I already use for everything. So I just bought my 2 year old son lots of clothes for 2012.

New knife for $100 or so

Is D2 carbon? I have an Esee 4 that I love b/c it holds it's edge forever no matter what I do to it. I like the Endura but it's sort of a pain in the butt to sharpen in my opinion. I can't ever seem to get it razor sharp. Is the D2 easier to put a nice edge back on? I'm thinking a mini with...

New knife for $100 or so

I have $100 to spend and I always want a new knife. I have a pretty decent collection built up (many of the knives have come as a result of reading on this forum). My current EDC is an Endura I've used for a couple of years. I really like it and it does anything a knife is supposed to. But...

    Gift suggestions

It doesn't feel as special, but when I was talking with my admin and asked how that would be, he said that was a perfect idea. The whole idea I had in my head was that a gift like that usually comes from a father, and I wanted to give it to him. Like I said, though, he lives a few houses down...

    Gift suggestions

I talked to my admin and school board member from my district. They are fine with it, and said legally I'd probably be fine. They loved the sentiment behind the gift, also. Buuuuuuuut, they also said IF anything happened, it'd be extremely bad press and a long PR battle (that I am honestly...

    Gift suggestions

Thanks for all of the great advice. I'm not too worried about any liability. The transaction will take place in his living room and will be accompanied by a long talk about responsible handling and care for a knife, and like I said, his legal guardians are very thrilled and honored. I'm...

    Gift suggestions

I assume there is no legal stuff to deal with. He lives about 5 houses down from me, and the transaction will take place in his home with the permission of his legal guardians. If I get him a Case, it will be a CV blade.

    Gift suggestions

I teach 4th grade and I have a pretty remarkable student in my class this year. He lost both of his parents last year (at different times) and has moved to our area to live with his grandparents. I always talk about outdoor activities during class, and because of this, he's become interested...

    Tough little fixed blade knives?

I ordered the scales that are made for the Izula I, although I believe the BK11 has it's own scales. It was honestly very easy, just trimming a little wood to make it fit inside the handle and then tighten the screws. I had it wrapped in paracord, but that wasn't comfortable at all to me...

    Tough little fixed blade knives?

I ordered the Izula scales for my Eskabar, and about 15 minutes using the sheepsfoot blade on my Case, the scales fit very well. I am not aware of any ready to go scales out there, though. The Izula scales feel great, though.

    Tough little fixed blade knives?

I picked up a BK14 this week while on vacation. I've not gotten to use it yet for anything, but I'm very impressed with it out of the box. It seems perfect for what I purchased it for; a light weight fixed blade for backpacking chores. I have been using a Mora carbon blade, and I've been...

    Remington Model 11

My dad is looking for a 20 gauge for quail. We go once a year together, and he always borrows a gun. He came across a Remington Model 11 for $350 that he said is in great shape. Is this a good deal? From what I could find, it looks like an Auto 5 replica that was discontinued in the 40's.

    Mora patina

Hey guys. I bought a carbon Mora, on the recommendation of so many here. It is scary sharp and seems like it'll be a great knife. This morning, I did some carving with it, using green wood, to make a bow for fire making. When I was done, I cleaned it with some soap and water, dried it, and...
