That was my plan with the cleaning rod. I didn't have a dowel at home long enough. Mine are all cut to length to fit 1911 barrels.
Thank you for the help folks. I did measure and it was indeed an empty that was jammed. I set the end of the receiver on a wood block and had to tap on the pump...
The butt stock is indeed off. I'll try to get pictures. In my haste I did forget to mention that before removing the trigger group the trigger would not pull, the safety would not move in either direction and the slide release lever would not move.
I was going to try an oak dowel down the tube...
Lol! I already figured that much out. ;)
I know we were shooting some of the steel cased Winchester junk. Wonder if it's a spent one in the chamber and it is swelled. I noticed in my 870 that the winchester junk was making the action a lot stiffer.
I have an Ithaca 37 that is just flat out locked up. Slide is in the forward position, so carrier group and breech block are in firing position. The slide won't move. I removed the butt stock and the trigger group to no avail. Even sliding the little keeper over on the bottom of the carrier...
I'd start out treating it like a plain 230gr. fmj. If it were me I would start around 4.5 and work up. If you google it you should find some info. Most seem to be getting best results @ 5gr. With powder scarce lots of folks are experimenting. I'd much rather use another powder (slower burn rate)...
I'll second the a-zooms. I have several and they've worked well for me.
Some will say just load a dummy round and fill the primer pocket with silicone or something similar. If you do that I'd make sure to paint it a bright color so as to not mix it up.
Just to clarify. Bobcat makes all of their stuff out of ar-500 in either 3/8" or 1/2" thicknesses. They have pre made sizes and shapes or they'll do custom iiirc.
I've been really happy w/ Bobcat steel. I think they are a mom and pop place and do it in the evenings. Prices aren't too bad and they've been great to deal with.
I've never (yet) loaded a squib. I'm still a good little boy scout and keep an oak dowel in my bag just in case. I've also got a chunk of brass rod at the bench that I've used to make different sized punches that would work in a pinch.
Between THR, and a copy of Lee's ABC's, and a little time on youtube (in that order) you could easily be well on your way to reloading.
Ask for advice and links to good resources from those here.
Read Lee's book to begin to get your head around the larger concepts.

For years I coyote hunted off of a set of homemade sticks. I took a piece of oak scrap I had and cut two square pieces 1/2"x1/2"x36". Stick them side by side and drilled a hole about 8" from the top. Put in a bolt with nylock nut. Painted them dull camo. They worked great. My rig wears a bipod...
I will readily admit that the 1911 is far and away my favorite platform. I wish I had more and someday I will.
Different strokes for different folks. I hope you find a platform that you like. I know there's all kinds of pressure to love 1911s, but not all guns inspire everyone. As long as...
I bought a roll of step tape at Menard's or Lowe's years ago. Use is for all 1911s and other gun uses. Gave lots to friends, and still have a lot left.
Easy to replace when it gets messes up or loses grip.
I've never had the misfortune to have to send a gun in under warranty. That's not to say that I haven't had problems. The only problems I've had were small enough that I did the repairs myself. Partly because I didn't want the same part installed again.
Most applicable to this situation I have...
I think the 10/22. Is one of those guns you get when you're a kid and don't think about stuff like round counts. I've had one of mine for 25yrs. If I had to guess I'd say it's seen somewhere in the 15k range. Hardly if ever gets any real cleaning other than a bore snake and clp. Don't remember...
I have checked out the Spot On program. Not sure I want to split with $4.99 for the app, though. It's getting pretty mixed reviews. The online version works quite nicely, however. After I get a good load developed I'll definitely print up a couple of range cards. I'll have to see if I know...
Sighted in a new rifle and scope tonight. No bore sigting. Shot @ 50. Measured. Adjusted scope. Shot @ 100. Fine tuned. 3 shots.
Same as I've done for years. Still works.
Of course, I once put a scope on a friends rifle and had to have a 2' square target to get on paper @ 50! It was a cheapo...
Got out just as the snow started picking up. Got it sighted in temporarily at least. Only 100yds, but I prefer 235yd zero.
Anyway, I was VERY pleasantly surprised.
I realized last night that I had no ammo that would work. I've only neck sized for years, and the rounds I had loaded would not...
80% I'd say. I haven't altered my wife's 10/22, and I have a stock 870. All 1911's get modded, and my 20yr. old 10/22 is like a test dummy. I've done mods to most everything else that I can think of. Brought a new rifle home tonight that will probably stay the same except for stock fit mods.
I...
