    Let’s talk vintage reloading presses

I recently bought a Lyman All-American Comet press (because I had never heard of one -had to have it). It has a 12 gauge shell holder. and a priming mechanism. Does anyone have one of these , or know anything about it. I would love to get an owners manual for it. (It didn't come with a handle...

    1 1/2" 12ga shells

Not that I know of. It'll probably hold 7 or 8.

    1 1/2" 12ga shells

They are 1 1/2" long, which is about half the length of regular shells, thus, many more fit in the magazine. More is better. The load is similar to what is in a 3" 410. Here's the link for the kit you need. It's an easy swap, and works very well on MEC single stage presses...

    1 1/2" 12ga shells

A pump gun will cycle anything, and there's a lot more of them. I got the MEC sizer and the kit that fits on my Versimec, from Ballistic Products. I'm using old WW Upland hulls, and cutting them with a jig I made from ridgid conduit. I cut 1/2 the petals off of Rem 29966 wads, and 11/16 oz...

    Kahr CM9 trigger reset

You are probably correct. With the new frame , they test fired a full mag with no exceptions, I fired a few mags, also, with no failures. Back when this first happened, it had been in my pocket for about 3 months without being fired. A large male black bear, came into my yard to threaten the...

    Burgess 44 40

Once again, it is not a lever action. There is no lever on the bottom. There is a block fitted into the top of the receiver, which is lifted from the forward end of the receiver, which is lifted up, and pivots to the rear, thus opening the action, and you can see the breech and ,under that, the...

    Burgess 44 40

On the left side of the receiver is stamped "Burgess Pat." There is no other writing on the gun.

    Burgess 44 40

This is a 44-40 rifle, and it doesn't fold. The action is nickel plated, and it has a block, on top, that pivots, upward, to the rear after one cocks the hammer. It has a magazine tube, under the barrel, that is filled from the top, past the barrel. There is a shotgun-style shell lifter that...

    Kahr CM9 trigger reset

My EDC is no longer EDC. It's functioning as a single shot. 2nd round loads, but it isn't cocked. when I re-rack it, the trigger resets, but the FP doesn't have enough power to fire the round.

    Bench for New Reloader

That's a good design, but you will want a thicker top - 2each 2x12 (side by side). Make a replaceable surface with 1/4 in. tempered hardboard.

    M14 M1a QUESTION

Check the head-space. Some military rifles have been shot a lot, which which wears the bolt lugs. A load that loads and ejects, and goes into 1 MOA. is satisfactory. Use lithium grease on the bolt and the operating rod and spring.

    30/06 IMR4350

Ditto, ditto, ditto. I just have to mention that Uncle Sam's 30-06 load in the 40's was 50.0 gr. 4895 and 147 FMJ, so that's what I use in my M1 out of nostalgia.
