    Storing ammo loose in containers?

I store some ammo loose in ammo cans. I just line all four sides and bottom with cardboard to keep down on noise as the can gets empty. No real need for it, just what I like to do.

    22 ammo at Walmart

Went to my local Walmart yesterday in search of some 22LR. I was told they didn't have any by the individual behind the counter. Stopped in this morning to check again and to my dismay there was a pile of the outer packing from the CCI 100 round packs. They had all been sold in the morning. The...

    Giraud On Order

I just called in my order for a Giraud Power Trimer. The wife does not share my excitement, so I thought I would share with like minded individuals. It will be ready in January, can't wait to give up hand trimming cases and move up to a powered setup.

MidwayUSA vs. 5.11 Tactical Range Bag

I have the 5.11 bag and am very happy with it. I am a big fan of 5.11 gear and feel you get what you pay for. I have not seen the Midway bag that is the same as the 5.11 bag, but I did buy a small version as a gift. Based on the smaller Midway bag I don't think you can go wrong for the price...

    Boresnake Viper stuck in bbl

This might not be a good idea, but could you burn it out? You wouldn't have to burn the whole thing to ash just enough to loosen it some. With the oil on it it should go fast. After its burned for a few seconds submerge in water to extinguish the flames. Barrel temp should stay low so not to...

    case lubeing question ?

I use RCBS Case Lube 2, and it works very well. I wash my brass with warm water and a few drops of Dawn dish detergent before I tumble. Let the brass dry for a day or two and then tumble.

    Sporting Clays and a Shotgun

I have a Citori I shoot skeet and trap with. It is a great gun with feel and reliability. For the amount I shoot clay’s I wish I would have gone with a semi. The price would have been half of my Citori. The O/U advantage is the ability to have two chokes. A semi-automatic will do just as...

    Old Tracers, safe to shoot?

You can check to see if the tracer is still good. Tracers ignite from the powder burning. Simply pull one of the bullets, push it in to the dirt outside in a safe location and poor the powder from the cartridge on top of it. Take a match and set the powder on fire. The powder will burn...

Gun related names for a kid.

The wife and I were having a hard time coming up with a name for our third son. We decided we would each come up with a list of ten names and sit down one night at the kitchen table and not leave until we agreed on a name. As a joke I put Barrett (after the .50 cal rifle) on my list. As soon...

Shelf life of CMP mil-surp ammo

My job in the Air Force is to take care of munitions. On a regular basis we issue ammo that was made during WWII and it works fine. When we inspect munitions sealed in the Spam style can we do not open it unless we see damage to the can. The cans are designed to provide the maximum protection...

    Plated Vs. Jacketed Bullets

I'm getting ready to make a large purchase of bullets in .451 for my 45 ACP. While I'm trying to find the best price I've seen jacketed and plated bullets have a small price difference. My question is for target practice is plated better then jacketed or is jacketed better then plated?
