I like my Stag 3G. 18" rifle gas, giselle(sp?) 3 gun trigger, and rifle length floating hand guard. only thing ive changed is the charging handle to a bcm, and plan to change the pistol grip.
the barrel shrouds are relatively easy to change, so i would choose a gun based on the rest of your criteria. get one with a low profile gas block so the shroud can go over it. a carbine w/ at 14.5 barrel and pinned/welded flash hider would be your shortest barrel without a stamp. the midwest...
you can get the spring from CZcustom if you wanted to swap it out. not complicated. i prefer a drop free. my stainless 75b(08 importation) had the mag catch, was planning to swap it till i decided to sell it.
i love my buckmark. feels perfect in my hand with the URX grips. i was going to get a 22/45 ruger till i held both side by side. that said tho, if you have a 22/45, id consider a different style of gun because the buckmark and 22/45 seem to handle similarly.
my GP100 has seams that i can barely even see where the trigger assembly and the frame meet. if i didn't know that it was supposed to be there id almost think it was a scratch. but it did have some burrs on the inside of the crane.
I love my 6 GP100 357 mag. i can shoot more rounds than i care to $pend without it being uncomfortable. and i was suprised how accurate i am with it. i nearly exclusively shoot 357.
