Nifty little 1960's reload tool for .38 spcl

@ Black Talon: I don't think that you can fire any primer indoors without ear-pro. Even the primer-only .22 rounds made my ears ring when playing in the garage, and that was out of a 16" bolt action, rather than a pistol.

    Lets talk 1911 vertical lockup

Okay, so with a .026" shim (.019" won't cut it), I'm getting an average of .154 (+/-002) between the top of the barrel & slide. Shimless & in battery, I'm getting .126" at rest, or as much as .136" if I press the barrel down first. The first lug (part of the chamber) has right at .056" depth...

    Lets talk 1911 vertical lockup

I'm not asking what to do, I was frankly seeking a second opinion (aside from my esteemed friend) from someone like 1911Tuner on what the issue was, if any, and how a shade tree gunsmith could go about fixing it on their own, as well as possibly helping others identify this potential issue in...

    Quality Punch set

Yep, but one of the fatter ones. I'd rather kill a $3 individual punch that I can return to H.D. than ruin one from a $40 set.

    Quality Punch set

Starrett punches for general use. For AR15 taper pins, go to home depot and get a concave nail punch. You don't want to ruin good punches on those SOB's. ACE hardware & Harbor freight aren't hard enough and will bend & break. BTW, don't forget eye pro. I've seen more than one punch shatter.

    Lets talk 1911 vertical lockup

As I would prefer this to be an entirely academic discussion, I'd rather not mention the manufacturer. Let it suffice that they are a reputable company with a reputation for excellent customer service. My primary questions are 1) is this even an issue, and 2) what do you suppose the cause is...

    Lets talk 1911 vertical lockup

Hello all, So I've got this fullsize 5" 1911 and an engineer I work with mentioned that it might need looking at as the vertical lockup is a bit shallow. The slide stop pin shows a great bit of wear in the link area for 700 rounds, the barrel's bottom lugs show almost no wear, it seems like...
