I don't think that you can fire any primer indoors without ear-pro. Even the primer-only .22 rounds made my ears ring when playing in the garage, and that was out of a 16" bolt action, rather than a pistol.
Okay, so with a .026" shim (.019" won't cut it), I'm getting an average of .154 (+/-002) between the top of the barrel & slide.
Shimless & in battery, I'm getting .126" at rest, or as much as .136" if I press the barrel down first.
The first lug (part of the chamber) has right at .056" depth...

Starrett punches for general use.
For AR15 taper pins, go to home depot and get a concave nail punch. You don't want to ruin good punches on those SOB's.
ACE hardware & Harbor freight aren't hard enough and will bend & break.
BTW, don't forget eye pro. I've seen more than one punch shatter.
As I would prefer this to be an entirely academic discussion, I'd rather not mention the manufacturer. Let it suffice that they are a reputable company with a reputation for excellent customer service.
