    .45 and 1911 losing ground?

I have several semi-auto pistols in two calibers: 9mm and .45 ACP. Up until the summer of 2015, I solely used .45 ACP (that translates to over 31 years). I strictly used DA/SA pistols (sorry, don't mean to offend the 1911 folks. Fine guns, those). Anyways, so, last year I bought my first 9mm...

    Compact 45 for CCW that isn't a G36 or 1911?

Another vote for the Bersa 45 Thunder UC. Been carrying it for 4 years, IWB, appendix. It shoots everything. I do "wear-in" every semi-auto with 200 rounds of FMJ before using HPs. The Bersa has had zero reliability issues in 2500 rounds - not a single malfunction! Sights are spot-on, and they...

Most accurate sub $1,000 carry/combat pistol?

I shot my Sig P220, then my new Bersa Thunder 45 UC back to back a few weeks ago, just to see how well I could shoot the new Bersa. When each shot was carefully aimed, the performance of the two guns in my hands was virtually identical. When I switched to firing quickly, I shot better with the...

Talk me out of getting a Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra compact

I got the Thunder 45 UC Pro about two months ago. No complaints, no malfunctions, adequately accurate for concealed carry. Sights not as good as Sig sights, but the Pro models can have the Sig sights mounted on them!

    Self Defense & the Christian

I would not have minded for a pastor to chime in, had I been the customer.

    Economical, non-junk,home-defense pistol suggestions...

I used to think only Sig Sauers and H&K were acceptable firearms, but I have chosen to become a bit more open minded. A few weeks ago I purchased a Bersa Thunder 45 UC Pro; that is a .45 ACP (why try to get by with something that makes little holes when you can make quarter sized ones!) with a...

    Self Defense & the Christian

Folks, I do have to commend the posters on this thread; it is nice to see respectful, courteous discourse on this subject. I am a Christian, and I carry for protection. I have no conflict in regards to self-defense.

    Veteran's Day

US Navy, '84-'04 active duty, presently a cilivilian for the DoN. Never issued a duty firearm, just tended the nuclear reactors onboard our carriers. A big and heartfelt "Thank You" to all the vets out there!

    Another Stupid "Which Pistol" question...

I just ordered another handgun, agonizing for almost two months to pick THE PERFECT GUN! Maybe some of my thoughts might give you an idea. Shooting snakes was mentioned. I am not comfortable with a "trail-mix" of ammo (JHP for two-legged predators, FMJ for the four legged kind, and...

Opinions on a new conceal carry weapon

I have been wanting to ccw my full-size Sig P220 for some time, but was hesitant due to its sheer size and weight. Well, I finally took the plunge. I invested in an inexpensive Blackhawk IWB nylon holster, and tried it all weekend in a crossdraw position at 9 o'clock, going on 10 (I am right...
