Loose fit between barrel and barrel bushing on Browning 1911-22

Thanks for the replies. After reassembling I thought I left out a part or assembled it wrong. You're right about the small sights. I'm not a good shooter and can honestly say that most of my guns are more accurate than I am but I don't know if that applies to this one. I also have a Buckmark...

Loose fit between barrel and barrel bushing on Browning 1911-22

Hello, Recently purchased a Browning 1911-22 rimfire 1911 and after firing a few hunfred rounds decided to field strip and clean it. Upon reassembly I noticed that the fit between the barrel and the barrel bushing is much looser than other 1911 style guns that I have. Is this loose fit common...

Using Winchester 110 gn 357 mag ammo in 686 stainless steel revolver.

500 of the Winchester 110 gn 357 mag ammo has now been shot through the Ruger LCR 357 revolver with no sign of gas cutting. The top strap still looks like it just came from the factory. The machining marks that run perpendicular to the top strap appear consistant from the recoil shield up to the...

Binding cylinder on brand new S&W model 63

I've received a reply to the e mail that I sent to S&W asking for a more detailed explaination of what was done to this gun while it was at S&W. I also questioned the comment "Can't use mini-mags or HV ammo - cyl. will bind" that was written on the service report that was sent back with the...

Binding cylinder on brand new S&W model 63

Please see attachment for copy of service report. After receiving that report I phoned S&W and after a very long wait finally spoke to a cs agent. He could not access any information about this case but stated that the comment about the hv ammo was accurate. I still don't buy it.

Binding cylinder on brand new S&W model 63

Thanks for the replies. Please see the entire thread on the S&W forum. The link is below. The gun began binding up brand new out of the box during the first cylinder of shooting Federal champion 36 gn hp 1260 fps ammo. The same ammo shot fine in a few other guns including a 317, 34, 617 and...

Binding cylinder on brand new S&W model 63

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about cylinder binding on new S&W model 63 revolvers when using high velocity ammo such as Federal champion 36 gn hp 1260 fps ammo? I sent mine back to S&W because of cylinder binding right out of the box and just got it back. They stated on the paper...

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

Is the adjustable sights the only difference between the 64 and 67?

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

That's a good question. I've always preferred new, never owned stuff because you never can be sure of the use and care a preowned item has had. I'm sure that I've missed out on some good buying opportunities but everyone needs to do what they're most comfortable with. Thanks for your interest.

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

I'm still interested to know if the current production 10's, 64's, and 67's being produced by Smith & Wesson today are standard barrel or heavy barrel. They appear to be heavy barrel on the S&W website but I'm still not sure.

Are the current mod 10's, 64's, and 67's being produced by Smith & Wesson today standard barrel or heavy barrel?

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

Thanks. I'm wondering how the 64 compares to the 67 other than the adjustable sights.

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

Thanks for all the encouraging information. I'm also considering a S&W mod 64 or mod 67 which I think is simply a stainless steel version of the model 10 as btg3 pointed out earlier. I believe that the only difference between the 64 and 67 is the 67 has adjustable sights. Please correct me if...

Using Winchester 110 gn 357 mag ammo in 686 stainless steel revolver.

Update So far I've shot about 200 rds of the Winchester 357 mag 110 gn 1295 velocity ammo thru my Ruger 357 LCR and have seen no signs of flame cutting. I looked at the top strap through a 5X magnifier and the top strap so far seems unaffected. I guess only time will tell.

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

Thank you to all who replied with great advise and comments. They're all very helpful. In response to btg3, yes I will be looking into a semi auto and getting some shooting experience beyond the range. Like many other shooters, money and time are also considerations. What caliber semi do you...

    Considering a Model 10 Smith & Wesson

I'm considering a Smith & Wesson Model 10 for my next gun purchase. Would anyone who owns one care to share their opinion of it? Shooting is a fairly new interest of mine and I sometimes prefer to get input from those who are more experienced. Thanks to all.

    Best .22 revolver?

I agree with Easygoing, I have a 686 that I think is great so I went out and purchased a 22 caliber 617. The only problem is that I haven't got to shoot it yet!
