You're right ... the Lee is probably a better match for the volume occupied by the shank. I get a bit less pressure with the Lee. Probably best to measure the shank length from the position of the crimp and the bullet OAL.
When I run it in QL @ 5gr of N340 ... I get 17.7Kpsi and 840fps. I'm using the Hornady 158gr LSWC (#10408) as a stand in for your bullet. I set the COAL to 1.47" and the barrel to 3.6" ... assuming you have a 1.6" cylinder.
Using a bullet with the crimp groove in just a slightly different...
I left a good bit. It was hard to walk away from those 8-lb jugs of AR-Comp. I've got a few pounds of it already but I only shoot it in 450 Alaskan along with 3031. So I'm pretty low volume on that stuff. It's just the right burn speed for my 20" barrel.
I'm out. I suffered a moment of weakness today and drove to Micanopy, FL. to Harry Beckwith Guns based on a @GeoDudeFlorida post in the deals thread. 4lbs of Bullseye, 4lbs of Unique, and another pound of Power Pistol ... all for $35/lb.
Why he's still got them marked with prices from 3 years...
I know ... I burned the last of my Norma R123 about 10 years ago in the Hornet and I'm still not over it. I wish this cannister powder business was more stable. I hope someone (named Hodgdon) picks up the Bofors stuff and brings it over here.
Nice. I think you missed the FPS in the third row.
I love me some VV powders ... super clean. I loaded up on N105 before they quit importing it but I've not run it in my 45 Colt yet.
OMG ... local, local, local. I have to drive 65 miles just to stare at a shelf with one can of N320 and another can of Enforcer. That's how it is for me down here.
Yeah, but you have to understand ... my program would scan their website every 60 seconds. I would have an order in within 3 minutes of it showing on the website. That type of automation can expose some holes in a dealer's processes.
@LiveLife is spot on.
There's no problem getting VihtaVouri or Hodgdon; some minor limits on what Accurate and Winchester can be found; IMR, Ramshot, Shooter's World are maybe tighter still. But Alliant has been ridiculous.
People are just going to move over to what they can get. And they...
I used to have a similar problem with MidSouthShootersSupply ... allowing orders for stuff they didn't have. I had written a program back in 2009 to search for primers. When they would pop up at MidSouth, I would place an order and it would take my payment and all. The problem was, when they...
Republic Ammunition also have the White River Energetics primers in SP, LP, and LR. I've ordered from them twice this year and it was just fine. If that's the company you're talking about. I don't get anything back for RepublicReloading.com.
Free HAZ at NatchezSS today and tomorrow 'til midnight with code FH240509. Natchez
I backfilled IMR4895 and AA2520 ... both of which have recently shown back up at retailers.
I'm still hard into RCBS with two Ammomaster Auto's. I can swap one to single stage as needed. Most of my die sets are RCBS. I've got spare die plates and just about every shell plate I'd ever need. I'm hoping to see more advancements with their bullet feeders, case feeders, etc.
When I...
To expand on prior notes, Argon is inert and in the noble gas column obviously. It's also readily available at welding gas suppliers. It's primarily used by TIG welders.
