Loading up 44 mag beyond max load

This is the last post that I will make on this forum, further it is the last time that I will read it. Advising anyone to experiment with 'hot loads' is unethical. That the moderators allow this to go on speaks volumes for the character of this sight. SAAMI spec's are there for a reason, further...

    Excess headspace Remington 788

Bolt compression is both a temporary and a permanent thing. With a standard load (not a hot load that so many folks on this forum seem to like) one that does not exceed 50000 cup there should be no bolt compression of the temporary variety. If your loads are producing pressure in excess of the...

Can't remember the last time I saw a 45 Colt thread

The Ruger is a modern revolver thus stronger than the older guns. That said, I load 10 grains of unigue under cast 200 gr swc, and 255 gr swc. The 200 gr swc's are safe in anything, and the 255's are listed as safe in the Ruger.

"Working Up" From What? (handgun cartridge)

Absolutely not! Smaller cylinder bore dimensions cause excess pressure. A looser forcing cone allows the bullet to transition more easily into the barrel. That is not the only reason that some cylinders show signs of pressure sooner than others. In some revolvers the cylinder walls are thinner...

    357 mag very light load

I have only one problem with this, that is that emergencies of all kinds happen. Imagine grabbing your 357 because something is knocking down your front door, grabbing the first rounds you come to (they look like 357's). As you stand facing the bear that's 4 feet in front of you, you raise your...

"Working Up" From What? (handgun cartridge)

Worked out of a ABC guide to reloading manual that I got at a gun show a few years back. I was loading 223 Remington, and loaded 4 or 5 test loads at minimum. Popped holes in the primers around the firing pin, primers were flat a pancake, and I had to use a squib rod to get the case out of the...

    357 mag very light load

Silly question, why not just shoot 38 spl's?

    What did I do wrong?

1.If the crescent is at the case mouth, as in a piece of the mouth caught on the bullet as it was seated and was pressed down, then you aren't belling the brass enough. If the crescent, or crease is below the case mouth, and looks like a wrinkle then you are probably over crimping. 2. Lots of...
