Hey good on your doctors for setting you up with that! Maybe you can send me their info and they can get me something that will steady up my offhand position with my Sharps 45-70 LOL!!
Good luck NVcharlie! Go get some!!
I haven’t tried the Baldwin sights… I do have some Kelley sights and also a set of Lee Shaver‘s that I really like. Maybe I should look into the Baldwins for the next rifle?
For what I’m looking at doing you’re limited to cast bullets and open sights. So with that restriction going to a modern round might actually be a handicap....
Did someone say 1911? I have a DW 1911A2 that shoots as good as the OP’s 22. No MIM parts on a DW 1911, all forged and hand fitted. Only wish I could afford more of them.
My former "Holy Grail" gun was this one.....
But I own it now (along with serial numbered box and all paperwork and accoutrements), so doesn't qualify per the OP's instructions. My current "Holy Grail" is this...
I'm glad you bought it. DW 22's are fairly rare. Most common is the 357, then the 44, then the 22. Probably 10 357's made for every 44, and 20 357's made for every 22...when you get into the weeds with 41 mags, 32 mags, 45 colts, any of the 4 super mags, and so forth, you are on a true tiny...
Hey Paul...that 2.5" 44 barrel is SWEET....never seen one in the flesh!! Looking to buy one though LOL....
Also really like the polish job on the 357...the "melted" look the gunsmith did blends really nice with the EWK barrel. Super good looking!!
I'm getting ready to go to the Quigley in June for my first time....been working pretty hard at it for a while now. Here's a video I did with my rifle first time shooting this one at long(ish) range....
Would be very interested to connect with any others who might be going or thinking on...
I own 5 DW revolvers, a 22 LR pistol pack, a 357 pistol pack, a 44 mag with 6" and 8" barrels, and two 445 Supermags....$500 is a very low price for a DW 22 revolver. As others have noted, barrels go across Ebay with some regularity, as do the suitcases and other stuff (grips, wrenches, so...
You can head over to the CastBoolits forum and read all about how Ruger routinely ships 45 LC revolvers with .446" cylinder throats. Every manufacturer has problems on occasion. The Italians have been making guns since the 1600's. All my 45-70's are Italian, a few pistols are, and I own 2...
I have one of these...

Different Italian gun, but really nice too. Cimmaron has an extensive line of single actions to pick from, prices are reasonable and quality is very high, no folding firing pins either.
I strongly doubt those scratches happened at the factory. Most likely you'll be on the hook for re-bluing (if you choose to go that route). A cold blue pen might itch the scratch in the meantime (as others have noted)....If you hate the scratches, don't go to some local yokel to get it...
