    Recall: Remington 700 & Model 7

I would not send in the rifle.. remove the trigger group, inspect, clean, whatever it needs just do it.. thread locker is easy to see, easy to remove with acetone. I say Remy has at least one lawyer demanding this tremendous recall, probably overkill

D.C. businessman faces two years in jail for unregistered ammunition, brass casing

I'm terribly ashamed of my government, the judicial system, and losing faith in the notion that cops are people too.. nobody had the decency to speak up during the raid? I would quit my job if that is what it entails .. very, very sad

AR chambered for 7.62x39, avoid or go?

the only problem is the bolt-face (& lugs) is weakened by being enlarged to accept x39 cartridges.. one fix is a "super-bolt" (forgot where I seen 'em) I've been using regular bolts but only shoot brass cased 7.62x39 (problem solved)

    Pump vs lever rifle.

pump vs lever? speed is the same.. had a Remmie pump and accuracy was the same as my bolt guns.. didn't like cleaning from the muzzle end so went with boresnake, lever guns can be rod-cleaned from the rear

Drill & tap, Midway, & my dumb mistake...

be careful tapping those holes, use lube, go slow and back out often (re-lube each time) if you break a tap in the hole you will enter a small piece of hell

AR build torn on the options. 223/7.62x39/9mm

you state he owns a .223 already but is it an AR15? Cool factor that you mentioned is good enough reason to build in .223 provided he doesn't already own an AR15 chambered that way. 7.62x39 is a good choice for an AR build but keep in mind the bolt face is prone to failures due to the size of...

    An odd question, I know

just remember most acids will remove gun blue, so do NOT use anything with acid in it. Even vinegar & lemon juice remove gun blue so beware.. I would try acetone, test a spot under the stock so it won't show if you use the wrong solvent

Henry 22 mag came home today

last year I sold a new golden boy 22mag to my cousin, the action was silky-smooth out of the box, now after 2-3 hundred rounds the cartridges load themselves LOL... congrats on your new toy, sure to love it ;)

    Twist Rate ?

when given a choice I go with faster twist (so I can load longer pills) but once I DID have a problem with light bullets/fast twist... The jackets were failing, and the rifling was a copper mine. My buddy shot the same pills with a slower twist and did not experience the problem. just MHO

    SKS Accuracy

grandpa is sorta correct but not really  in general maybe you can say bolts are more accurate, but there are many exceptions.. I had a mini-14 and a BAR that were very disappointing @ the bench. likewise I've never seen a SKS or AK that did any better. I just sold a Ruger M77...

Stainless 357 Rifles: Ruger 77/357 vs. Rossi M92 Carbine?

forgive me but I would not buy another Rossi, quality has dropped-out of the picture entirely

    Should I clean it?

carefully clean it, from the receiver end, don't pull the brush back through the crown (unscrew the brush) the muzzle crown is what you don't want to scratch
