I think you made a good choice. Glock, XD, M&P are so similar in build quality and reliability that you can't really go wrong. Each one has something the others lack. I personally switched from XD to Glock but just recently went out and picked up an XDS.

I use State Farm and have all of my guns covered under a personal articles policy. It's very cheap and I have things like my DSLR camera on it as well.

Well I went to Sportsman's on Friday night and they happened to have one XDs in stock. This gun has been a hot ticket item and I was on my wish list so I left the store with. After paying for it of course.... Its a fantastic little pistol. Fit and finish is top notch. Engineering is amazing...

I carry a CM9 almost daily, the only time it gets traded out is for a g26, but that is becoming less and less often. Love this gun, never had a failure of any kind in 400 rounds.

I'm sorry to hear about your CM9 woes. I recently purchased a new CM9 and have put 225 rounds through it, all flawless. 200 UMC 115gr FMJ rounds, 25 Hornady TAP FPD 124gr, not a single failure of any kind. I love the little gun and I hate to see someone get a bad one. I hope Kahr makes it...

I had an accidental discharge in the house several months ago. It can really scare the pants off of you. But it really engrains it in you to not be in a hurry or be careless when handeling firearms.

+1 on the Minotaur its an awesome holster. I use it everyday for my XDsc 40!

Just a personal preference but I have and carry an XDsc .40S&W. Love the gun, never had a single issue with 500+ rounds through it now. Just my preference, don't know a lot about the others. The M&P's look pretty good though and the interchangeable backstrap is a great feature.
