    Going rate 1981 S&W 29-2

Oohhh. 4" Blued 29 is a grail gun for me... I would just buy it and be done.

    Fort Smith PPK, PPK/S owners!

I recently purchased a .new Walther .380 ppks. Right out of the box it had light Primer strikes on every round. Several rounds took 3 and 4 drops of the hammer to set off rounds. Different ammo brands were used, so not an ammo issue.. I haven been that frustrated in a long time. I sent it back...

    H&R 999 Sportsman - undervalued revo’s?

I inherited a 1978 example. The top break action is unique for a rimfire pistol. I will echo everyone else's sentiments on the double action trigger, it is rough. But it goes bang everytime, wwhich is what it was designed to do. It would be a great farm gun/kit gun if that is what you were...

After S&W "Mountain Gun", 41 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 45 Colt, it's the time for the next level; "Outdoorsman" with slim 6.5" barrel

Thank you for posting that link. Great article. I purchased a 57 Mountain Gun with the Ahrends grips from Buds Gunshop in '09 or '10 on closeout. Price was $620 😮 Will post some pics later. It is a great revolver. I don't think I will ever part with it. But having said that, it is not...

You ever see something that, well, you just HAVE to have?

BFR in .480 Ruger, not .475/.480. Found out later how rare that they are. LGS had it collecting dust for over a year. Unbelievably accurate. Real nice pistol. Best impulse buy I ever made.

Floral carved tanker rigs from El Paso Saddlery

I haven't replied in ages, but quality is quality. Craig C always makes lovers of six guns come out of the woodwork. Mid South gun nut here with a question... where are the 11 stars??

those darn gun stores are dangerous. SW 617 content

Like everyone else here I have my fair share of firearms. But handsdown, the one gun that gets more action than any other us that 10 shot, 6 inch k frame. It is great for new shooters, great for crows, great for squirrels. Hell, tell me what it can't do! The only negative is the weight, but if...

    RIP bikerdoc

I haven't been here in months. Other passions and life's problems have pulled me away from THR. The first post I saw had nothing to do with .41 magnum, .357 .vs 9mm or a bear thread.... It was about bikerdoc. I grabbed some very average Canadian Whiskey. His posts always carried weight. That...

Which Summer Olympic Shooting Events Would You Change?

+1 on adding biathlon. Miss your target do a penalty lap. To make it interesting athletes would be shooting blackpowder firearms. They would have to be loaded at the line with components that the athletes carry on their person. I would watch that.

    Revolvers .357 Magnum

There is a lot of good advice here. If you had to stick to your purpose of a concealed carry .357 I would suggest a 686+ with a 3" barrel. A shorter barrel defeats the purpose imo and you already have the model 10. If it does not have to be for carry I would go for any one of many Single...

    Redhawk grips irritating my finger

I bounced around between the original grips and Pachmayrs and was never happy. The 7.5 " barrel is a different proposition than a shorter barrel and it took a lot of searching. These are Herret's Custom Shooting Star stocks and they make the revolver feel just right. Big grips but it truly is a...

    How Rare? BFR 480

I appreciate that. I also appreciate MaxP for chiming in. Only in reading quite a bit of the history of the .480 Ruger over the past few days (many stories written by him) did I just now realize who he is :0 Last week on the t.v. (Hulu, Netflix or Prime, can't remember) I was given suggestions...

    How Rare? BFR 480

Here are a few pics. What I find interesting is the production date of sometime in the 2nd half of '01, but Ruger didn't unveil the .480 Ruger until '03 if I am not mistaken. This makes Jim Tertin's comments about rechambering these early 480s to 475 Linebaugh a real interesting twist to the...

    How Rare? BFR 480

Thanks to MaxP for giving me the kick I needed to find out more about my BFR. Although I haven't picked up the phone yet I did get quite a bit of information on the history of the BFR from a post titled "History of the BFR" on the Kahr facebook site, which was penned by the founder Jim Tertin...

    How Rare? BFR 480

Many years ago I stepped into the local gunshop and they had this single action monster in the discount rack. It came in a BFR shoebox and the guy that processed my paperwork made me feel like a clown for buying it. At the time I was looking for a big bore single action for hunting game in the...

    Value of old Smith 648?

So this is a mint 6" no lock produced between 1989 and 1994? This is a toughy. With prices right now it could be a few hundred bucks off depending on a multitude of factors. Location, etc... Basic range for me would be $700-$1000. Hard to see it going for more than that but I could be wrong...

Thinking of adding other calibers to the corral due to (gasp) panic buying.

I think it is a good idea to diversify myself. But I also understand why folks would want to consolidate down to a few calibers. Sometimes in life less is more, but the way I see it I am in America and more is more! I like things like .41 magnum and .480 ruger. I enjoy introducing new shooters...

Info needed: Brazilian Contract 1917 S&W revolver

ummm.... they are asking $450 and the action is broken. If you really want it start at $275 and see where it goes. kind of like buying a car and it only works in 1st gear. haggle the hell out of it and report back!

    Which Blackhawk???

I voted for the 41 because I want a blackhawk in that chambering. I have a .357 blackhawk with the 6.5 inch barrel and am very please with it. . If you plan to hunt with it I would go .41, if not I would roll with the .357 as you already have supplies in that caliber.

Russian schools are told to teach how to strip an AK-47 for 100th birthday of Mikhail Kalashnikov

Somewhere in another dimension, Hugo Schmeisser has to be saying "Are you kidding me?" What a tremendous example of propaganda that history has disputed many times over and has been accepted as fact. How this Seargent dreamt up this piece of hardware in the hospital is truly one of the greatest...
