For those of you that process 223 brass on a 1050, how do you have your toolhead arranged? I would like to just run a decapper first and then size right after the priming station (priming stuff removed) then trim. Do I need to spread the load around the head more?
Anybody shooting the hornady 75's in a 1-9? They make nice round holes at 200 just not very close together! I have tried a few different loads of H 4895 with not much success. Have a few loaded with Varget to try tomorrow so we will see. Am I wasting my time?
Been looking at these rifles. Never laid my little paws on one yet so I'm wondering a couple things. When they say adjustable muzzle brake, what does that really mean? Never have had one and really don't think i have a need for it so can I take it off? Just cover up the threads right?
And can...
My son is looking for a truck gun. He's left handed so he like to try one. But looking for something with a little more range than a 30-30. I see savage had a 243, was it ok? What all else is out there?
I mostly hunt or slow fire target shoot. Have a 18" with no muzzle brake, rifle length gas system. What can I do to soften it up? Adjustable gas system? Heavy buffer? Saw a hydraulic buffer product that looked good. Spring changes?
Thanks
If your not too busy (and I know your not) check these out for me. If I can post them right.
55 gr Montana gold hp's, H4895.
200 yards
24.0 gr
24.5 gr
25.5
I'm thinking it's a tie unless I try some more.
Going to have three in a week or two. All different makes. I am not going to be loading for bench type shooting. Just hunting. So I know almost anything that functions will work. I'm just wondering what you have found doing this. I'm going to load enough test loads to shoot thru all of them and...
For you 6mm shooters out there hornady changed them. Thought I was going crazy having seating issues but traced it back to different shape oglive (spelling?). The boxes that have Varmit on them are more streamline. .040 difference to lands between the new ones and old ones in the plain boxes...
Having trouble with an old rcbs seating die. Need to update and was wondering if a competition type would be worth it. Just trying to build good hunting stuff on a 550 in 243 win.
I may be able to to put together a place to do this. Including "heavy" rifles. Up in the corner of Mo. Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa are all 30 min from here.
I'm loading up 500 rds. of 223 FMJ that shoots about 2 in. or so at 100 yards. That good enough? If not I'm not real sure what else I could do and be ready by Saturday. Also not real sure I have the right kind of sling and don't have any kind of mat. I figured a heavy blanket, maybe yoga mat...
On the one powder poll I see that "H" beats IMR. Just wondering what the scoop was on that. Haven't been loading 243 too long, tried IMR with good success. Do I need to try "H"? More versatile? Measure better?
Right now I'm using 100 yards that is pretty level. I'm getting kinda bored so I'd like to go out to 200. I can get there from the bench but it's 30 feet lower than the bench measured on gps. Doesn't seem that steep but it is a 15% slope. Sounds kinda steep. Not sure how much is too much!
Thanks
Gonna try some 6mm/223. Never necked anything up, or down for that matter. Does your lube procedure differ from normal resizing? I've been using dillon spray stuff so far and getting along fine. I know most of you will probably tell me to throw it away but so far, not bad. I realize it may not...
I started out with unique at 7.0 grains and get good results but am looking for something that I can load a little lighter. If I drop unique down much it gets kinda dirty (powder in face) so I thought I would try something a little faster. Loaded some bullseye down to 4.0 and 4.5. Worked good...
Been loading for a while now and kinda want see how good I can get accuracy wise. Just thinking about all the combos make my head hurt so whats the best way? Start with different charges at a near factory depth and take the best out of there and then start moving depth? Other way around, depth...
Thinking about a 308. Think that Remington is ok? Rock River be a better rifle? Hunting would be main use. There's so many to look, a bit much for my little brain.
