I just got a Spike's mid-length AR a few days ago. I have no experience with anything from the AR platform, and have never even shot one. I was looking over it, and noticed a bit of slop between the upper and lower receivers. Is this normal/OK? Does it impact accuracy in any way? Thanks!

Believe me, I'd love an M1A, or an FAL for that matter. But they're a bit out of my price range. So how does the Spike's Tactical compare to, say, a Bushmaster? They're the same price at $800.

That's what I wanted to hear. I didn't really figure that time would realistically do much to a well-kept rifle, and it's good to hear that from somebody else. I won't be wearing out anything through use for quite a while (especially if it's the M1 with the price of ammo being what it is).

I guess I should add that this is mainly for HD and SHTF, so replacement parts may not be widely available (or if bans are instated and parts become more scarce). And on the M1, it would probably be a CMP service grade.
