In South Carolina if you do not have a SC concealed weapons permit then you may carry in the car in the glove compartment, console if it has a closing lid or in the trunk. It's a crying shame that adjoining states do not recognize each others carry permits.

I personally wouldn't want to offer any advice or submit any criticisms until I learned what type of experience and training the employees of this company had, what their expected duties were and what the past history of the level of violence of the area they were going to be working in was.

Golden State carbine
What a nice example.I have a niche in my collection for Golden States,Santa Fe Arms models. These are hard to find. There were eleven Enfield models of Santa Fe sporters and Jungle carbines.
Look on the five round magazine and it wil say "Santa Fe" over "Japan".
It will be...
I would be concerned with getting dirt in the firing pin channel of either an AK or an SKS.To my thinking they are about equal in their overall ruggedness and ability to function in almost any environment.
I have owned both and prefer the SKS.

You cannot just use the phrase "7.62 Russian".There is a 7.62X54R and a 7.62x39.Both are Russian developed cartridges but very different.
The 7.62X39 is akin to a 30-30 in ballistics and a 7.62X54R is stronger than a .308 but not quite up to par with a 30-06.

cornman must have never shot a good shooting Mosin. There are certain models such as the Model 39 which are extremely accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Many of the other models are accurate as well.
As far as where to obtain one...it seems that all of them come in thru Century Arms and they have...
Here's a shameless plug and a handy thing to have if you own a Mosin.

All the conjecture and comparison is good info. However, practical usage is the best comparison.I've killed two deer with .410 slugs at distances of more than 50 yards and both were dispatched where they were hit. Many feral dogs and coyotes have been kiled with one shot at 50 yards or so.

I've had a Cobray .45LC/.410 derringer for 20 something years.I have shot it a lot in practice and it is very manageable. It's a great snake gun when fishing.I sometimes carry it when hunting and have killed several rabbits with it as well as a couple of quail.Neat little utilitarian pistol.

The 45/70 is a better cartridge. There are more bullet weights available for it and you will find the 45/70 is accepted in Mississippi as a primitive weapon due to the cartridge being accepted in the 1800's.
I have the Handi 45/70 and a Marlin lever action Model 1895 in 45/70.Loveboth of them...
I had never been a pistol shooter to any great extent.Several months ago I purchased a barely used 7-1/2" barrel Super Redhawk with a 2X scope. This pistol is great and has made a pistol shooter out of a formerly rifle only person.
