I used to carry a Seecamp .32 but had occasional nightmares about shooting a perp and him not even noticing. I switched to an LCP in .380 and haven't had that nightmare since. The LCP is bigger but lighter.

You are lucky. In my county of 1 million people there are 2 or 3 gun stores. There is 1 gun store within 20 minutes of my home. They charge msrp for all guns. I recently bought off the internet a Ruger LC9s for $100 less than msrp.

In NYC there are many agency's that employ unarmed police/peace officers. They include Hospital police, school safety, TLC, Park rangers, and others. They may have OC and/or batons but most don't carry guns.
