LEO use of revolvers in 2014

During a recent holiday trip in Spain I noticed that some local police officers use revolvers as duty guns. They carry them in leather holsters with a classical ammo belt. Most guns are .38 Spl. but I saw some .357 Mag. too.

    "Suprema".00 buckshot

I bought a couple of boxes some days ago, just for fun. These loads have performed OK in my Mossy 500. Excellent pattern and moderate recoil. As long as I know, Suprema buckshot loads are made by Maxxam for Tulammo. Maxxam is also the manufacturer of RIO, which are well known loads here in the USA.

    Winchester Over and Under???

I have a Winchester 101 Field, 12 gauge with 28" barrels. Made in Belgium by FN Herstal, not in turkey. It fits me like a glove. I bought it in 2010 for 1100 bucks at Bass Pro. Great upland shotgun. About 10.000 rounds without a single failure. Now and then I also take it to the range to shoot...

Dearborn Heights, MI, Man Convicted of Killing

It's clear to me that using a gun wasn't justified in this particular case. Shooting through a closed door without knowing what's in the other side violates a basic rule of self-defense, proper identification of the attacker. That said, being convicted on second degree murder and involuntary...

SD ammo, how do you decide?

As a whole, 9 mm. JHP ammo made by reputable companies, either American or European, will give you good results. Needless to say, you should use a modern gun, also made by a well known and reputable company. That said, SD experts highly recommend to test your chosen ammo before considering it...

I really want this new H&K!

This "new" Heckler&Koch looks pretty much like a Glock 19. Polymer receiver, striker fired, no manual safeties, 15+1 rounds capacity ...

    Glock, loaded chamber, HD?

In my opinion, your problem is more the thin walls of your appartment than the weight of your Glock's trigger. 9 mm. bullets, let alone .357 Magnums, are powerful enough to kill an innocent neighbor in case you miss your target. I live in a house with external brick walls. Yet my HD weapon is a...

    Hawk shotgun?

I bought a Harrington & Richardson Pardner Protector years ago at Dick's for 200 bucks more or less. I was shocked when I realized that the thing was made in PRC. The associate at Dick's didn't tell me anything about the origin of the shotgun and I was naive enough to believe that it was made...

    confused about used mossberg 500

By definition, rifled barrels are not threaded, so I'm with 627PCFan. You're probably seeing plastic residues.

    Glock ejects to face

It's a common issue. From time to time, a spent case hits your face, hence the importance of wearing eye protection. This problem, of course, has nothing to do with ammo nor with any specific manufacturer. I've often suffered this problem with autoloaders other than Glocks.

    Failure rate (real world)

My 0.2 cents. GLOCK 19, 3rd Gen. 15K plus rounds. 3 FTE's due to limpwristing. Rate of failure= 0.02% GLOCK 26, 3rd Gen. 8K plus rounds. 1 FTE, same reason. Rate of failure= 0.0125% Quite acceptable in my opinion.

    Glock suggestions

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. That's the idea. I agree about the sights though. May be they're worth replacing.

    Glock, Ruger, or S&W?

I own a GLOCK 26, but any of them will do the job. They're all reliable. I think it's rather a matter of good hand fitting and personal preference. As far as external safeties are concerned, I don't miss them. I think that those safeties are more a hindrance tan an advantage. At least in the...

Used Glock - Parts to Swap Out

My GLOCK 19 Gen 3 has 16.000 rounds through it. Well before that figure I bought all the springs, the pins and the firing pin. Until now, no replacement has been necessary. I wonder why they recommend replacing the recoil spring after 3.000 rounds or so.

    Alternative to glock

The grip angle in a GLOCK is not wrong by itself. You can get used to it as to any other grip angle, but of course this is a matter of personal preference. A couple of good alternatives to GLOCK pistols are FN's and HK's. Both well made, rugged and reliable.
