    Where to go shooting outside

I live in Portsmouth so I feel your pain. As far as I know the only two WMAs that have ranges are Amelia (2 hours away) and Chicahominy (1 hour away) and you can't shoot handguns at either place if I remember correctly. Land in the area is all privately owned otherwise. The National Forest is 4...

    Smith & Wesson 686 versus Ruger GP100?

Had the exact issue of choice with my wife a few years back. She did not like the Ruger, it did not feel right to her and the DA trigger pull was like 1000lbs. She loved the feel of the 686 2 and 1/2 inch barrel so we bought it. Went to the range and after 6 rounds it beat her up so bad she said...

Chris Christie and his stance on guns

It's early yet. Personally I don't see him getting the nomination, and if it looks like he might, be sure that the libs will grill him incessantly on gun control, and if he changes his position, well then he will be a flip flopper and will lose anyway. Any Republican, absolutely any...

    How fun is .22lr?

I only have a Henry Golden Boy now, but it is awesome fun to shoot. Yes ammo is too expensive but it will probably stay that way $9.00 bricks are long gone, so are $25 bricks where I live, and online is a crap shoot. Oh well, I still have some and get some when I can, love it, love it, love it :D

What is YOUR favorite Conceal carry gun?

I am kind of like the old geezer mentality. Been carrying a 1911 either 5 inch or 4 inch (depending on what I owned at a given time) for 21 years, totally reliable

Wal-mart beats out church in court over gun sales !!

Saddlebag preacher is right, we do the same stuff. While legal to participate in shareholding type deals (which our church does NOT do), it would certainly not seem prudent to try and wield the religion sword for a "social justice" cause that is invariably political, at least in this case.

    The most expensive gun

I got to hold a $40,000 Frianchi single barrel trap gun one time a few years back at a shoot and it felt really sweet and balanced. Did not get to shoot it though

Has the 12 gauge lost popularity as a HD gun over the past few years

"You best pattern that shotgun At range your talking better be sighting No matter the choke Their not a alley sweeper ." I never said I would not aim, and I have patterned this shotgun at 21 feet and get a cylinder bore spread of about 6-8 inches on a piece of cardboard. That is much larger...

    Lever 22s

I have shot the Win 9422 but never owned one. It shot good and accuracy was good. I own a Henry Golden Boy and it cycles like BUTTER. The crummy sights are actually good for me as I am feeling the age in my eyes too. It is accurate as heck, which is godd since I paid over $400 for it. When I...

Has the 12 gauge lost popularity as a HD gun over the past few years

Shotgun, 12ga, short-barreled pump right by the bed. I'm not likely to be calling up CQB training that I never had at 0230 when I am in a dead sleep awakened by a noise. It does not take much to lay a pattern of 12 30 caliber pellets down a range of 20-25 feet in the dark.

Would you CCW while praying in front of an abortion clinic?

Personally I would not carry, the media would have a field day because you can be sure there would be a disturbance, possibly even instigated by the media in some way. I do not put anything past them these days.

    New job...suggestions for conceal carry...

We do business casual where I work. You might consider a sport coat over a button up shirt with casual slacks or even jeans, which would allow a strong side IWB. I have seen rigs that fit under the shirt, requiring a weak side hand that pulls the shirt up (and un-tucks it) while the strong side...

    Replacement stock for Rem 770

Folks, Does anyone know where a person might find a replacement stock, either synthetic or wood, for a Remington Model 770 in .308? One of the sling holes ripped out on mine (the first time I slung it up). The gun is accurate, but the stock sucks. I did not find one at Boyd's. Also, if not...

.30-06 v .308: which has greater felt recoil

I guess they could/would be about the same, but my Savage 110 30.06 does feel snappier than my Remmy 770 308. I shoot 150 gr factory power points in both guns.

Bought, then sold, then bought again?

Re-bought the same gun 3 years later Back in '95 I had had a Colt Commander that I owned for several years that I loved, and well money got real tight so I sold it to a guy. Well, 3 years later my wife and I were in a LGS and I happened to look in the used handgun case and there was a Commander...

AL: State Bill to Ban Guns in Churches

That has to be fought, at least in part, on the basis that a private entity cannot be controlled to that degree. It may have little or no chance of passing this round but the seed is now planted that for the "greater good" legislative power should be allowed to extend to that point. Kind of like...

    Peep sight ?

FWIW I hunt with a Hawken with a tang mounted peep. It is great in the accuracy department but low light is a real pain. Only my natural, well-practiced, over the years cheek weld has made me able to kill game after about 430 in the afternoon, because I sure as heck could not see sharply through...

How much does it cost you for a year at your range
