Anybody else NEVER tumble their brass?

Unless it is pretty cruddy I just tumble a bit to remove the sizing lube. No ill effects so far. T

Thanks folks looks like it got squared away pretty quickly. Glad some one could use it. T

.22 Mag Shot Is Not Enough for Timber Rattler

I have a friend who raises quail by the thousands. Which means rats by the million. When we visit every night is a rat shoot. Burning a 500 round brick is a weekend affair. .22LR cheap crimped ratshot has little or no quality control some have no pellets at all while others have a surplus. The...

    7.7 x 58 JAP

Hi folks, Recently I was given 80 or so pieces of brass that appears new as well as a set of Lee dies that are a bit grungy. After a bit of measuring I formed a couple into .308 as I'm a bit short on that caliber. They formed quite nicely with a bit of annealing. It crossed my mind that...

    Spreader Load for Home Defense

I once fired a 3.5'' 12 ga #4 buck from a rifled barrel hoping for the same effect. While it worked very well at 3 to 5 yards albeit a bit hollow in the center by 7 to 10 yards it was way to unpredictable. Anything beyond about 10 yards was just plain scary. An 18'' cylinder choke with your...

Blowing out primer at below recommended start load 300WM

You may want to confirm the load data from another source. The next stop should be the powder manufacturers recommendations if possible. Normally they are available on line. Luck T

    Ok, hear me out.

If you really want to spear something I'd go with the goose far less chance of permanent injury that way. There is this little pond in my...oh never mind that might be construed as cheating. Have fun. T

    Rice! Aughhh

Mayhaps you should try the long grained wild rice instead. Seriously though ground walnut shells are really good for cleaning up tarnished nasty looking brass. Corncob does a nice job of polishing up brass but doesn't cut the crud as quickly as the walnut. Hit the petshop and buy a bag of...

    Would this be considered poaching?

Ok so you messed up don't make it worse by involving the authorities. If you really feel some form of penance is in order find a hunter education class in your area and enroll both you and your son. You might be amazed at what you will learn and losing a few Saturdays is punishment enough. T

How often do you clean your Ruger 10/22?

Once every 15 years so twice so far. Still have never had a single malfunction with the gun. I have had a few bad cartridges but they are expected with cheap .22 rimfire. T

    .22 shorts in a revolver?

.22 shorts are still pretty noisy little devils when fired from a revolver. CB's are far quieter and still have more than enough impact to deal with smaller critters. I am currently heavily in like with Aguilla SSS (Sniper sub sonic) as they are less noisey than .22 lr but have amazing...

preparing to load rifle cartridges for the 1st time

I like the LEE trim tools but I don't use them in the zip trim as I found it to be frustrating. Now I just chuck the case holder in a cordless drill and vise mount both the cutter pilot as well as my deburing tools. After trimming I just give the case a spin to remove burrs before removing it...

    Firearm smells awful

Brownells sells new wood for a fair price. I really cant see a piece of metal holding scent as bad as you describe so it is probably the wood. You may be able to seal the smell in with some clear coat but I'd probably just replace it. Good luck with the stench. T

    308 sizing trouble

Very odd for sure. I cant think of a reason that it would take that much effort to squeeze even a badly buldged case into the die. I have crammed cut off 30/06 cases lightly lubed with STP into a .308 die with very little effort. The die was resizing the body as well as forming a new neck and...

    zip .22

As soon as a stock is connected to the zip it either needs to be SBR'ed or have a 16'' barrel installed. Since the 16'' bbl is not an option you must go with an SBR and give the devil his due. If I'm misinformed please fill me in. T

Has anyone had to deal with Montana Gold Bullets customer service?

I would call my CC company and file a complaint right away. Since you already tried the nice way and got no satisfaction now it is time to be not so nice. They wont be seeing any business from me in the future. Best of luck.

    1/12 and 62gr. bullets for .223

My 1/12 bolt gun will stabalise 60 grain partitions but they are on the edge. There is a marked difference between them and the 55 grain SGK. The 40 grain V-Max will drill a single hole if you can hold it there but the heavier bullets just cant compare.

30 mi carbine problem or not

If nothing else in your setup has changed such as new dies or a new setup on the old ones you may need to anneal the brass. More crimp is seldom the answer to neck tension problems. Hope you get some additional info. T

    Bamboo shooting sticks

I use mine on a regular basis they work great and weigh very little. A height adjustable tripod is about as good as it gets for stability. They also make a dandy walking stick. T
