    Cz-82: yes or no?

I took my CZ82 out today and examined the barrel again. It does have polygon rifling but you can see the grooves faintly under light. The bore is almost mirror finish(shiney). I've seen some of the barrels on others that were scarred and pitted. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It is very helpful.

    Cz-82: yes or no?

I have one and love it. I waited and paid $275 for one I was able to hand pick. Most I saw were showing a lot of wear and the barrels were nearly shot out. On mine you can't tell if it has ever been fired. Plenty of extra mags on the market for 82's and 83's.

Colt 1911. Looks vintage, but doesn't seem quite right

Looks like someones parts gun. The slide is 1914 to 1917 with the rampant Colt on the rear. The frame looks like a pre-WWII A1.

Kahr cw, or Smith &Wesson M&P compact?

I carry a Kahr PM40 or the P45 IWB. I can almost forget the gun is there. Kahr(s) handle recoil better than any gun that size and are totally reliable after the 200 round break-in period.

Love and Hate my new gun. 8)

I avoided the issue by purchasing a used Chas. Daly Compact (early RIA Built) for $250 at a gun show. It already had its' dings and blems but shoots great. Later bought a full size used CD that still looks new.

    Kimber II 1911 or S/A Operator 1911?

I have both a Kimber Ultra Carry II and Pro Carry II(with external extractor) and both have been flawless. Each has night sites as well but w/o ambi safeties which I don't like anyway.

    KAHR Reliability?

My primary carry piece is the Kahr PM40. It has been great for six years and over 2000 rounds until this past March when both mag followers disintegrated. I replaced those and am off and running again. I like the extended magazine for better grip and one more round.

What is the most unreliable semi auto you have shot ?

Funny thing about Taurus(s), I too had a PT709 that was crap so I sold it. My PT145, PT1911AL, and Judge have all been great dependable shooters. The worst one I ever had was a Llama .45.

    how to choose a makarov

I have two Bulgarians, two Russians, and one E. German. The E. German seems to have a little better workmanship but the others shoot just as well. They are getting harder to find and more expensive than five years ago. I read the Chinese variation is the better pistol but have never seen one.

    Sigma 40

That sounds like a great deal. I had one in .40 but sold it because the recoil was punishing. My Kahr PM40 is much more manageable.

    Carrying a Five-Seven?

I owned one for about a year. It is a nice novelty piece and is the loudest handgun I ever fired. I wouldn't want to be standing behind the BG that takes a hit from it. I sold it and have no regrets. You can find them all day at gun shows for under $1000 now and ammo is about the same cost as...

Do you carry an "under-rated" concealed handgun?

I sometimes carry my S&W 9mm (pre-sigma) pistol that fits fine in a front or coat pocket. They were only made a couple of years in 380 and 9mm. The frame is plastic and the gun is light plus holds 8 rounds. No safety but has a heavy double action pull. I guess they had problems with them but...

    Bit by the 1911 bug

After collecting handguns for 35 years I finally got the 1911 bug four years ago by starting with a used Charles Daly compact I found cheap at a gun show. It had several issues so I used it as a training pistol by disassembling, reassembling, and replacing parts at least 10 times. Since then I...

    1911 cocked, safety off carry?

I feel that cocked and locked is the best way to carry a 1911. From what I read, Browning's initial design had only the thumb safety but the US Gov. required the grip safety for the trials. Savage also competed for the contract and had to modify their entrant with a grip safety as well. After...

Do you use holster for glovebox or console

I keep my HK .45 compact in the console with no holster. To me, a holster just adds another hindrance to quick access if needed. The gun rests on a foam pad and is not obstructed by other items which I keep in the glove box. I keep the weapon loaded with one in the chamber, hammer down and...

    General Makarov Question

I have 5 Mak's. Two Bulgarians, Two Russian, and an E. German. They're all great with the E. German perhaps a little better quality. The Russians have the best sights. Any of them are more reliable and easier to shoot than the P64 or PPK. I haven't experienced the Bersa but prefer the 9X18mm Mak...

    Bought my first .40 S&W. How'd I do?

I have one as well. Great shooter and wonderful ergonomics. Tricky finding a holster to handle that trigger guard. I had an S model in .40 as well. The larger M handles the recoil much better. Your price is great also. Yours is just like mine and actually is 2 generations old. The newer ones...

    The FN Five-Seven: sexy beast

Fn 5.7 I had one new for two years. Nice novelty piece with high capacity, fastest round in a pistol, and also the noisiest handgun I ever fired but with no recoil. I just didn't consider it practical for defense and sold it for what I paid. Can't beat FN workmanship.

    Fn 5.7

The 5.7 is an expensive novelty piece with a LOUD report. I sold mine two years ago and haven't missed it. It was great quality and fun to shoot but I would be concerned about collateral damage if the speedy round went through a soft target and continued on.
