Ok now I know what you where saying. I took it apart and saw a bunch of open space. I have some aluminum I'm gonna try it although it will probably take me a bit as I'm busy. Thanks for the advice and yeah it's JB Weld but it's also only a $250 gun. Thank you!
Yes, I sweatened the trigger a little and it made it much better. Not going any further on that as it's pretty light to the pull and don't want to make it dangerous.
Yeah, I know but it's still worth getting some opinions. After all what are forums good for if not to see what others have done? Not to mention there goes my plan of a half slumber shot from my tree stand safety bar. Also, I've shot plenty that will take a nice soft handle and have excellent...
I have access to a lot of machining tools. Could probably screw an aluminum bracer to the bottom of the foregrip? As far as JB weld I have some of that too although that's a little more semi permanent than screws. I'd like to see a photo before I just go for it. So you think the foregrip could...
Yes, also checked the scope mount just in case it was loose. It appears I was holding it too loose however, I've done so with other rifles and had good results, including other 308s. Although they are considerably heavier than the Savage Axis is.
I took a brand new Savage Axis 308 to the range this weekend and started with Federal Premium Nosler Partition rounds. I believe 180gr or so. They were expensive and to my disappointment I couldn't get it to hit consistently within the black i.e. 6" groups at 100 yards. I was totally irritated...
Likewise on the pouches... originally I modified the original German 2mag HK91 Pouches to fit onto molle webbing cause they worked good just don't have the molle attachments. I bought some pieces of steel flats and cut to size and drilled holes in to mount the mag pouches onto them.. it works...
Yeah, I think I paid $50 for 25 of the 20 round HK91 Mags (aluminum) from the PTR website... Haven't found a deal like that since. That was like 2 years ago. They work great. Just wish there were more HK93 mags on the market... or if you could retro fit an AR15 mag or something that would be...
Was wondering do the HK surplus trigger/grip (as seen on CTD) have any advantage of being able to adjust the trigger pull? My PTR-91 needs a sweeter trigger. Right now it's a hard pull and for such a heavy gun makes it easy to jerk the barrel even with practice it's still grizzly. I don't care...
Only complaints I have with any clones of HK products is that any and all (quality-range) accessories tend to run a bit too expensive for practicality. Also the standard issue 40 rnd. magazines for the C93 are outrageously priced we're talking $70+ for $2 worth of stamped and used surplus metal...
Purchased a C93 rifle. I checked out the bolt gap spacing with a feeler gauge before I purchased it. Also dismantled partially and checked for grind marks and machining marks. Nothing out of the ordinary, didn't have any signs of "drunk monkey" on it so, I bought it. I took it to the range...
It's the price
I went with a C93 cause I can't afford the HK price tag... I'm very happy measured bolt gap etc. to make sure it was good. It's a tack driver. Only downside is that HK accessories and parts still have the heavy price take even though a C93 can be gotten cheap... feels odd...
I got the MKE clear polymer mags. Quality is there. However, my C93 mag well may be off a little. The mags didn't stay in place after snapping in.. Also one of the mags that came stock didn't snap into place either...
SO to fix the MKE mags I started by filing a bit off the back as I thought...
I agree, Draco not the way to go, I'd say most rifle rounds and even a 44 mag is too much. I have a girlfriend and a small apartment. She couldn't shoot a big gun simply cause her hands are too tiny. We keep a 22 Buckmark on the end table reaching distance from the bed because... I know she can...
Good point, TX! not sure how much needed to spend on an optic the gun is only so accurate no matter what you put on it. I like the red dot sites but.... simple magnification even if it's 1.5X eliminates my need to wear glasses while shooting cause it puts the image focal point right in front...
