I've seen everything used from .44 percussion revolvers to sawed off shotguns. I was thinking of getting a Glock 41 in 45ACP w/5.5" bbl. Anyone guided in UP Michigan trout streams? Typical encounter is black bear, sometimes wolves.
Bolt guns pro: Lots of used ones around for cheap, ammo is powerful and plentiful (308, 30-06, 7.62 russian), and they can extend my safety zone out to 300 meters or more, and I don't expect any zombie-style swarm attacks around here. Con: slower rate of fire so if I do get swarmed all I can do...
It's supposed to be deployed to the front line troops in PLA this year and replace the the type 56 AK that they use now. Or so this website says.
It looks to be a pretty conventional bullpup design but what got me interested is the new caliber of ammo it uses. It shoots a 5.8x42mm/.24...
The bolt coming forward slides right over the cartridge or scoops it up but misses the feed ramp. Is it the rifle, the magazine or the ammo? Using CCI Stingers lessens this but they are expensive to shoot and I want to work with as many ammo brands and types as I can. Any ideas or thoughts? :)
Up until now I've always loaded up 124 grain hard ball for target and bowling pins and used 115 JHP +p Corbon factory loads for protection. But now I want a load that I can use for everything that won't stress the gun too much since I can't afford a second one or major repair right now. (BHP clone)
