yeah. My understanding was the initial batch were nothing but paperweights but that was later fixed. I dont know if SAinc still uses lithgow adi recievers or make em up in canada. I'm sure someone out there has a number range of the ones to avoid :)

You need to be aware that the PTR has a short list of accepted ammo that it will eat while the fal will eat anything. a LOT of posts around the net on ptr91 and its finicky ammo issues.

find out when it was made so you can avoid the bad years (aka broken firing pins, poor barrel regulation etc etc etc). for 250 it could be a good once every other sunday gun. how far to the left does the top lever go? if its still out to the right, and when you break it that it does not flop in...

- ptr will eat your brass for breakfast with its roller design, making reloading more work. (if you dont reload, it wont matter) - ptr has no bolt hold open on last shot (I like a BHO but its not a real detraction if you can count rounds) - more people perceive the felt recoil on the ptr is...

Well, here's hoping you don't run into any of DSA's current QA/QC issues. DSA are not currently, what they used to be.

re #1 - if you can get a nice 308 AR, sure. re #2 - legal != ethical/correct/best/should/could/will. re #3 - see #2 If it were me, I'd get a nice bolt action in 7mm-08. plinking with 308 is expensive, esp when you already have a 22 plinker..

well imbel spot harden, and last I heard DSA fully harden (so do coonan as well iirc).. but honestly I'll take an imbel or an fmap over a dsa anyday... let me know when dsa figure out how to build a working 20rd magazine. how hard can it be right?

dsa have lately had bad bolts, and right now are doing a big recall on their lowers.. once dsa ran out of surplus parts it seems their stuff went downhill. They couldnt even figure out how to mfg a correct fal magazine that worked. the best thing around right now are the NOS unfired argentine...

Lanber, hands down the best of the 'cheap' new O/U. Stoeger, Yildiz, Huglu etc you take your chances.
