    Interesting Gun Ownership Article

Good cover story. I am going w/ I lost mine on a fishing trip.

Reloaded ammo makers w/ brass exchange?

In an attempt to be helpful (rather than critical), there is a THR reloading forum at http://www.thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=15

    Threaded barrel illegal anywhere?

http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?35633-Virginia-s-Preemption-Law-%C2%A7-15-2-915 I don't think the VA law "has teeth" like that. At least there is no mention of what would happen to those who pass a law covered by preemption in opencarry.org's summary. BTW, the opencarry.org...

    Threaded barrel illegal anywhere?

Virginia has state firearms law preemption; so unless it's a state law ... it is not law. BUT I would not be surprised if some localities still "have gun laws on the books". Just like the Connecticut lawsuit going forward against Bushmaster despite a law that forbids it.

    Were you ever anti-gun?

Me personally, I was never anti OR pro-gun; just indifferent. I probably did a 90 degree turn as I ignorantly thought guns had registrations and persons had licenses like cars. Below is the the fascinating case of "a 180"; where someone's view on the 2nd Amendment is shaped by their...

    Moving from CT to VA

The guns are the original poster's property. The destination, VA, does not have registration. Driving via interstate with gun(s) properly packed is NOT illegal. Even though... don't stop in NY anywhere along it's roads. Take I81 through much of PA that will get you to a sliver of MD where...

When the police don't practice gun safety ...

This was on my local news. I'm in VA; TV comes from DC. But anyhow, the Washington DC police don't practice gun safety. An officer conducted an "active shooter drill" with an unloaded gun and pulled the trigger. This all happened in the presence of many armed officers. There are two...

    NJ and Guns (Visit)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fC2iu3CTPc This humorous 10 minute YouTube video sums up NJ gun laws. It's a few years old (uploaded in Fall of 2011), yet is still valid. I know nothing there that has changed. Perhaps one of those who chimed in from NJ could validate the claims of just how...

Co-worker receiving family firearms across state lines--NY to PA

With NY state permits listing what firearms one owns, it will be important to keep the arms secured after the owners passing. When the sole the owner dies, the police may see the the arms as UN-owned and may subsequently attempt to seize them. Who may (in the eyes of NY state) hold them prior...

Co-worker receiving family firearms across state lines--NY to PA

I bet there are many who have ignorantly done interstate transfers without even knowing the repercussions. I have explained to at least 10 persons how to do it correctly. A firearm coming out of a state who tracks guns / owners closely like NY can be especially dangerous. Someone then tells...

Well done Virginia! Hats off to Governor McAuliffe!

I second that... McAuliffe IS NO FRIEND of gun owners. In this case, I can only smile now that he upset many in the "gun control crowd" by reaching out & giving in on something pro-gun. I also read some details on the voluntary background checks at gun shows. They expect them to be $5-10...

Oregon gun laws improved last year by implementing universal background checks?

Referring back to post #1 on this thread.... Is any gun control measure measure passed into law ever "enough"? After achieving UBC, gun controller advocates look at "what's next"? Those who "roll ever" and allow UBC laws to be passed, help them over the UBC hurdle on to their next. Look up...

Oregon gun laws improved last year by implementing universal background checks?

Additionally all UBC laws want the serial number and date of what is transferred to be recorded. THAT, BY DEFINITION, IS REGISTRATION. JSH1 has been a loud voice here on THR and an advocate for increasing the state's efforts in managing your rights. JSH's last few posts on this thread are...

Casting bullets with salvaged lead from batteries

From what I recall, many agencies like the EPA may have armed agents. They may show up and think your house and yard need to be declared an "environmental disaster area". You may be kicked off your own property and then be handed an invoice for millions of dollars. chuck

Before you decide not to vote for someone who is not quite to your liking, consider the implications of not voting. I am not going to violate THR rules and speak of any current presidential candidates. I will however share the story of how about three years or so ago, Virginia ended up with an...

Why aren't we better using facts to counter the Antis' arguments?

There are studies on just about anything you want to prove or disprove. Be it drugs, guns, poverty, racism... etc.. All too often the sample is somehow biased. When university is named, it is merely a handpicked study that proved what who paid for the study wanted to prove. The results are...

A two for one deal on OilyPablo's posts. :-) To start off, I am pretty much in agreement with OilyPablo's posts. I am not a one issue voter. HOWEVER, I see gun-rights is a "looking glass" into how a politician sees their role as a public servant. It is especially true of representatives...

Washington Post: Obama’s Gun Controls Not Enough, Confiscation Needed

This link was sent out as part of the Virginia Citizens Defense League newsletter as to the rhetoric that is be written by newspapers and consumed by the general public. All are bad, some worse than others. #3 and #7 were especially disturbing. #3 is requiring a background check for the...

    12minutes into the latest debate

Gun control advocates (mostly, but not all dems) are very sure in themselves that anyone who wants a gun is up to no good. They can only focus on legal gun owners as the originator of their woes as illegal gun owners are very prevalent, but completely "hidden". Anti-2A politicians lost seats...

Washington Post: Obama’s Gun Controls Not Enough, Confiscation Needed

So we have an impass. Liberals hate idea #1 and conservatives hate idea #2. That just gives us the patchwork how crime and punishment are handled now.
