Just curious: what is the most effective handgun round for combat?

Any round that a shooter can fire quickly but at the same time hit what he/she is aiming at (i.e. manage recoil). The more rounds you can put on target in the least amount of time wins the fight.

P232 getting fixed after less than 1000 rds

Yes Sir that's it. So there should be a punch mark on the face of that pin which expands the pin to hold the lever firmly to the pin. Apparently the issue is that many of the those punches don't expand the pin enough which results in the problem I'm having or the lesser issue of the lever...

P232 getting fixed after less than 1000 rds

Lonestar49 - I've taken the gun apart a few times to know it's not operator error. It's definitely a broken take down lever (confirmed by the Sig rep). usp9 - I like it....I'm not at the "love" it stage yet. Not sure I ever will be. It carries great. Sometimes so well, I have to check...

P232 getting fixed after less than 1000 rds

Just thought I'd report that my P232 is in for repair with less than 1000 rds. After my second range date with the new gun, I tried to break it down for cleaning but... It wouldn't come apart. I'd move the dissassembly lever to the down position and I couldn't get the slide off. I figured...

Would you trust an auto that has been stored for 6 months?

As many have already pointed out, 6 months isn't a really long time if it was in decent shape when you stored it. My only advise or area to look out for would be if you store your gun for this length of time regularly (i.e. you shoot it twice a year and the rest of the time it's stored). The...

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

Because I don't want the whole world to know I'm a cop or carrying armed. It's for my own officer safety and safety of my family when I'm with them. In my state, getting a CCW is very hard. With that said if someone were to see me armed because I didn't conceal my weapon well, a reasonable...

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

Range Report / Long First I'd like to thank everyone that offered advice and help...you gave me ideas and things to try during my range time. I really appreciate it considering it was my first post. Says a lot about the crowd here. So here are my experiences & results: Sig Sauer P232...

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

Thanks Lonestar49 for the tip about the spring. I think the piece you mentioned that comes loose sometimes is the disassembly lever. I've heard this same issue from other 232 owners as well. After I qual in the next few days, I'm going to purposely shoot as many rounds as I can without...

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

Thanks guys. I'll wait until it comes in this week and give it some time to train/qual with it before I decide if it's just going to be for range days or if I'm fast/proficient enough to carry off-duty. Happy New Year, Rob

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

Thanks Lonestar for the advice. I hope your situation was the exception rather than the norm, but I will certainly keep it in mind. Unfortunately my agency only allows the P232 or P239 so I'm very limited to an "off-duty" pistol. The obvious question that most folks have asked me...

Night Sights...Yea or nay...and which are best?

I carried a G22 for almost 8 years...before that a Hi-Power. At one point, on the G22, our group tried the Big Dot sights after meeting with a rep at a show. 10 yards and in, the sight picture is extremely fast compared to a 3 dot system. You basically don't need the rear sight. Just put...

    Sig P232/230 Emergency Action Drills???

My first post and a question.... I'm waiting for delivery of a P232 in a few days. It's been authorized by my agency to carry as an optional off-duty pistol. I figured since it was a good deal, and a quality piece I'd give it a try. It's the first time in almost 18 years as a cop that...
