It has a Serial # This one has a serial number ending in L I know that the last digit is something to do with the style of weapon. Some that have a K as the last digit manufactured before WWII have checkering in the wrist area and don't have the tootsie roll forend, they are checkered also...

Canning paraffin is what I used when I casted round balls for my 1851. I used marvelux when I started casting for my .50 frontier rifle. The marvelux had less smoke etc and seemed to get the lead impurities out better.
