    Holster Cant

Thanks guys for all the info and opinion! I did some "draw testing" last night and found out that while I can draw from the vertical position, I find that after I get about half way through my draw I start "dragging" the weapon forward. I realize now that a moderate cant (maybe the 20 degrees...

    Holster Cant

Ok, just looking for opinions here. I'm a "IWB holster n00b". Before I got my CCW I carried around the house and on private property where legal, but I used an OWB Uncle Mike's Kydex holster that I wore at 3:00. No cant on the holster at all. LOVED this holster for its durability and...

IL now has 'written' CCL applications ready - but what a screwed up way to do it

Probably 2. lol If it's like the staffing levels they provide to do FOID card background checks, renewals, etc, it'll be criminally understaffed.

IL now has 'written' CCL applications ready - but what a screwed up way to do it

Oh buddy, if I could I would. I work from home, so I can work ANYWHERE I have a fast and reliable internet connection. Sadly, where I live in Northern Illinois, you can't sell a house! I just took a $40K hit on my assessed value last year (dropped from $128K assessed to $88K assessed value)...

IL now has 'written' CCL applications ready - but what a screwed up way to do it

Shot record? They have that now. Part of the IL CCW application process is that you have to waive your privacy rights. 430 ILCS 66/30 Sec. 30. Contents of license application. (snip) (b) The application shall contain the following: (1) the applicant's name, current address, date and year...

IL now has 'written' CCL applications ready - but what a screwed up way to do it

LOL! I live in Illinois, but 95%+ of my coworkers are out of state. Many of them are in Indiana. They often refer to people from Illinois as "Illi'noids" because we always seem to be so annoyed at Chicago and Springfield. They refer to the people from Chicago as "Illin'ards" however. lol

IL now has 'written' CCL applications ready - but what a screwed up way to do it

Not in my case. I supplied a digital picture of the size and dimensions they required. They used THAT picture on my CCW permit, not the pic from my DL or from my FOID card.

New to CCW - Need holster

In the long run, it sure is. Sadly it's often easier to come up w/ $60-$70 several times, then it is to come up with $150 once. Silly kids, they eat too much. ;)

New to CCW - Need holster

Thanks guys! This is great advice. I think I'll start w/ a better belt like suggested, then look into the holster. Looking at prices, it looks like I'm going to be in the $150-$200 range for belt anf holster. More than I was expecting. :( But then, I'm cheap. lol

New to CCW - Need holster

I jut got my CCW permit in the mail, now I'm in need of a holster. I want to carry IWB between 3:00 and 4:00 (right side). Problem is, I'm a big guy. I've recently lost 60 lbs, but I still have some belly that is slightly in the way at 3:00. I'm totally new to IWB holsters however, and...

    Utility of bullet holes

My uncle used to use an old fridge as a smoker when I was a boy, and he CLAIMED he used a 12gauge to put the vent holes in it. It always struck me as most likely a statement filled with what a cow makes patties from, but I was too young to prove him wrong. lol

Escape from New York: Moving out of gun unfriendly areas

Ed Ames, we have thought about that several times. I'm fortunate enough that I work from home, so I can work from anywhere with a stable high-speed internet connection. Unfortunately, renters around these parts have a horribad history of destroying rental homes, and my wife is simply not...

Escape from New York: Moving out of gun unfriendly areas

(rant) I live in Illinois. In a city that, in a separate study, was listed as having the LOWEST satisfaction of any residents anywhere in the nation. If I could leave here I would do so in a heartbeat. The ONLY think keeping me from leaving is my house. I can't sell this bloody...

Are there any .45ACP Glock fans here?

My firast Glock was a G21. ABSOLUTLEY LOVED that weapon. In the end, my budget being as tiny as it is, I made the decision to trade it for a G17 for the reduced ammo cost. Don't get me wrong, I love my G17 too, but it's just not the same. I'd take that G21 again in a heartbeat.
