The Mini-14 will shoot minute of felon (or coyote) all day long. It is also a bit more PC looking to many folks including some LEOs, especially with the flush magazine in it.
I looked at the Savage...for the price it is a good rifle but for roughly a hundred more I decided on the Mossberg MVP. It has a great trigger made just like the Savage Accu-Trigger but easier to adjust. Use any AR-15 magazine, is a shorter action so it has a shorter bolt throw and is just plain...
Besides a primary handgun and a BUG I generally carry three knives.
Knife one is my social knife, the one I use in front of polite folks. This is most commonly a slipjoint with nice scales.
Knife two is a heavier duty knife for cutting chores I prefer not to subject my social knife to...
In South America the folks used poison from the small colorful "poison dart frogs" to coat their darts. The result are kinda a slow motion knock out deal. Here in the US we have cane toads..don't know how effective their poison would be.
Just over the $100 mark at $105 this Benchmade Bone Collector is very nice...D-2 steel, camo micarta scales, reversable clip, Axis lock system...

Given that a shotgun's role in home defense inside the dwelling is as a defensive weapon that should be used from a barricade position such as the far side of the bed away from the door, barrel length really doesn't matter. The Remington 1100 beside my bed has a 26 inch barrel and holds 11...
The Kahr is very well made and given the price of a good quality Mil-Surp today I would give it a lot of consideration. Of course if you can get a decent buy on an original that is in ok shape you can have it made very nice by the folks at Fulton Armory.
With Cor Bon DPX ammo the M1 Carbine...
I never saw him come close to sweeping the crowd without the gun being broken...there is no way you can shoot skeet and some other clays games without having a broken gun pointed at folks surrounding you. A pump or auto is actually a bit easier as they can be kept muzzle up. But if I see a...
Have it custom engraved...about the only way I fear...

Those being the choices I had to choose the HK/Glock but the chances of me owning that combo is slim to none and slim left town. Chances of me carrying that combo is on par with me winning the Powerball and I don't buy tickets.
Combos I do carry include
Glock 19/ Kel Tec PF-9
S&W 2 inch...
Skip the MEC Jr and find a MEC 650 or a Grabber...you will be much happier. Of course getting a few buddies together and buying a Dillon SL 900 would be even nicer...
The Mossberg pump with the 2 1/2 Federal 000 buck load would be my recommendation as well. This shell makes about 1350 fps with 4 000 pellet out of a 18 inch barrel.
Personally I would prefer a small stature person go with a M1 Carbine instead of the 410 shotgun for home defense. Having 20...

I have an idea there will be very little warning when this dries up, just as the 7.62X25 disappeared very quickly. Of course if NO'bama gets re-elected I foresee a ban on the importation of all ammo via one of his Czar's...
If...
I never had any issue loading 30 rounds in a 32 round Uzi mag (using a loading tool) ...are you sure they aren't blocked...or maybe actually 20 round mags? A 32 round mag will be about 13 1/2 inches in length.
