unusual front sight on 586 no dash

Hello, I just purchased a smith & Wesson 586 ( no dash), great gun; however, I noticed the front sight is not the usual one found on 586 or 686. Anyone have any information on this sight. There is no pin to replace the blade, it is one solid piece. Thanks for any help.

    just got a 45

M&p 45 Mine would not group the Hornady 230 gr TAP +P or Rem Golden Saber 185gr +P well. For accuracy mine liked most of the standard velocity 230grain ammo. As far a function, it has been flawless with everything so far. Hope that helps, Great Gun!
