    Elk in Virginia

KY and TN have both reintroduced elk herds. The KY herd is much larger, something like 10,000 elk, the largest elk herd east of the rockies.

If you have used a full-auto weapon in combat, was it in full- or semi-auto mostly?

Well, semi was what I used when I actually saw who I was shooting at. When there was thick vegetation and I was taking fire but couldn't exactly see where they were at but I knew the general area, I was shooting three round burst. Honestly, I doubt I actually hit anything with the 3rd burst.

    Banning quads

FOOT In NY they banned ATVs on pretty much all state lands a while back. To get deep in the state forests you need to go on foot. Which works well if you don't mind walking, it really thins out the crowds if you go deep. They do allow snowmobiles on some trails, but most of the time the good...

    Poll: Ak vs AR

You need to get one of each, you won't be disappointed with either. They're really different rifles that serve similar purposes. Just fun at the range either is fine. Hunting something like deer I wouldn't use the .223, but many people do. AK for hunting things bigger than coyotes, but my AR...

    Favorite odd ball caliber

7.5x55 7.5x55 swiss. Around here you can find 54r and 8mm pretty easy but with the 7.5x55 you basically need to order it off the internet. My k-31 is the most accurate gun I own, and a devastating round on whitetail. Just waiting for my chance to see how it does on black bear.

wanna get into squirrel hunting but need help.

I carry squirrels that I shoot in a turkey hunting vest that has an open back pouch that I think is supposed to be for decoys. I only shoot with irons, but I'd use a low power scope something 4x or less. Anymore than that it will be hard to pick them up in the scope with the limited field of...

wanna get into squirrel hunting but need help.

I use a marlin model 60 for squirrel and it works great. It helps to hunt with a partner and space out 30 yards or so. Or have one sit still while the other makes a larger semi circle. A lot of times squirrel will circle around a tree avoiding the hunter who is moving, and forget about the...

    .223 thread not about deer!

for sure only head shots unless you use FMJ on small game like rabbits. I shot a squirrel a couple years back with a .223 while coyote hunting using 55gr wolf HP. It literally did a helicopter motion off the branch and the front and rear portions were only held together by a small sliver of hide.
