rem 700 rifle barrels, how different?

My ADL in .30-06 I got from Dick’s in Feb. for just under $500 will shoot cloverleaf’s at 100yrds all day long with reloads. My reloads are Hornady SST 180’s on top of 45.5 grains of IMR 4064, COL of 3.353. If my bottom rung Remington can shoot cloverleaf’s, then I have no doubt the more...

I have hit the lands on my Remington M700 ADL .30-06 just fine, lucky I guess. I seat my Hornady SST's at 3.350 and the chamber measured 3.422

    Uncooked rice for tumbling media

I used rice once and left it overnight, and it worked ok. But it was apparent that if your brass was really stained it wouldn’t work. My brass was just single shot brass I kept in the cabinet for a few months. I defiantly will look into something better. Rice works in a pinch and if leave it for...

    New Kimber 84m Horror Story!

I always thought the M700 came out in 1962 and Remington began designing it in 1947ish?

i hate when people look at a swiss m1911 carbine and say "hey, that's a K31"...

I happen to like the K31 with the darker wood myself, looks more authentic. Sorry man I couldn’t resist. They do look very similar, so I wouldn’t sweat small stuff. If the average person is not as knowledgeable as you, then pity them, don't take offense.

    centerpoint scopes and recoil

I, too have one on a .30-06. Several hundred shots and many adjustments, and it has stayed and tracked true. Good scope for the money. As long as you remember it’s a sub-$100 scope I bet you will be impressed.

    My 30-06

According to the Remington Society's "de-coder", my rifle was built in august of this year. Six months AFTER I brought it. LOL

    1943 K98k at Gander Mountain for $120

The Gander here Wichita had Nagants for $129. They seemed to be in good condition, concering the age. I came really close to buying one since it was a piece of history, a cheap rifle, and already was buying a Daisy .22.

Using a Thumler's Tumbler for, you know, rocks

I recently brought a rock tumbler from the local Harbor Freight for around $40. I threw about 20 de-primed .30-06 shells into it with a cup of rice, left it for the night and it did a pretty decent job. The insides weren’t very shiny, but they did seem to be mostly free of “soot”. Cheap way of...

    The power of primers

When I primed my brass, I measured the depth of the primers. They were measuring at around .009"-.011". Because most recommendations’ were to have your primer depth around .005", I got to wondering late at night if my bolt action would fire them. I figured surely it will, but I just couldn’t...

    New reloader saying thanks

It might be awhile, I am not scared of a big boom, and I like the potential to hit some past 100yrds with a little regularity. :neener:Whatda think I am trying out for Top Shot? I have no use for a pistol YET.:D

Not an example of good gun safety!

I really hope that the general public doesnt think every gun owner is that stupid.

    New reloader saying thanks

I wish I could buy the beers. Being in downtown Wichita, there isn't really too many people that know guns, reloading, and hunting. I would buy the beers to say thanks and sit back listen to a few stories.

    New reloader saying thanks

There was a definite reduction of recoil. But I was shooting 45.5 grains various the full blown recommendation of 48.7. Between the reduced recoil and better groups, I was smiling ear to ear. While the recoil doesn’t really bother me, I do appreciate the gentler push. In the case of my rifle...

    New reloader saying thanks

I have recently started reloading. I spent about a month researching the various aspects of starting loading, and this site was one of the biggest sources for me during that research. So I just wanted to stop in and say thanks for giving good advice and being good enough to impart your hard...

    Which Remington 700?

From what I understand the .308 vs. .30-06 debate can best be summed up as follows. Up to 180grain bullets both are for all intents and purposes equal. But with extra case capacity, the .30-06 pulls ahead after 180 grains. I talked to my father-in law that was with the Army during Vietnam, and a...

What Increments to use when working up a load

"By the way, if you're going to be critical of someone for a typographical error perhaps you should take a closer look at the meanings of the words creditable, creditability and the similar words credible and credibility."-1858 Damn talk about irony. I have to admit I am embarrassed. But I...

What Increments to use when working up a load

If Mr. Newberry thinks the speed of sound is 18.000f.p.s, then his information is not very creditable. If it’s a typo, then it still doesn’t speak well of his creditability. In addition, just because you can make a common phrase into an acronym, does not mean its plagiarism for another to use...
