Another vote for the CZ97B. An absolute pleasure gun to shoot. And with a good tight fitting barrel bushing and a little trigger work, as accurate a shooter as any .45 ACP going.
I have a Freedom midlength Stainless with 1:7 twist that I put together about 4 months ago. Runs flawless, but so far I can't get a group any better than about 5 inches @ 100 yards. Tried XM193's, M855's and several of my handloads of 62 grn. Barnes TSX and Hornady 68 grn Match and several...
I think using a to heavyweight bullet in the 06 would more likely cause you to have to track a whitetail or possibly loose the animal. The 150 gr. Softpoint is just about optimal in IMO for east woods whitetails.
Since I live in the mountains of upper east Tennessee, just a few miles to N.C. Virginia or Kentucky. I'm biased in thinking that this is about as good as it gets. I can shoot anytime I want. Pretty good gun laws, beautiful scenery, cool summers and just enough winters to thin the bug...
Sat down next to a big timber last year. I was out turkey hunting one day and had a gobbler closing ground pretty fast. I set up against a big hemlock to work the bird, not paying attention to the ground around the tree. The bird went silent and I eased my slate call down beside me, focusing on...
My thoughts on the mini after owning a few, hmm. I currently have a newer 581 series with the short heavy barrel. Before chasing load development, I would do a few proven mods that will make the mini a much tighter shooter. I have done all of these myself. You can choose to do these or pay a...
Bought for 50 bucks last year. Iver Johnson model 50 Sidewinder .22 cal. The original wood grip was broken, so I replaced with a tenite grip. It's a tack driver.
I like the 6x45 idea and even the 25x45 idea. I don't think it's going to become a 300 yard deer hammer though. But I think it would make dandy chambering for the AR. And would be a terrific 200 yard whitetail load. More so than the .300 blkout, which I just can't feel the vibe for. But I guess...
1911 my first choice, but have owned a CZ97 B, it was a super shooter, just very big and bulky. It can't warm up to Glocks ergonomics. FN would be the third pick.
