I understand, but what is happening is the actual mag tube cap is coming unscrewed, not the sling stud. the stud is threaded into the cap and does not turn. this causes the cap to come loose when I deploy the gun a few times. But you are right, it is not unscrewing all the way so I may be ok...

ok the cap is attached to the part which holds the barrel to the mag tube. when I take the barrel off, the cap remains part of the barrel assembly not the mag tube. The cap is male thread and the mag tube is female. The cap assembly is in there with some type of ring.

I want to attach a sling to my mossberg but the front sling attachment is on the threaded cap of the mag tube. The actual sling attachment is screwed into the cap. after deploying the sling several times, I notice that the cap is coming unscrewed a bit. any remedies?

I really only shoot my .22 regularly, the shotty and the saiga have a special purpose that has not yet shown its face. like the wife, i take em out now and then to keep em happy. you can never have too much ammo though.
