muzzle velocity isn't going to be an issue-- like I said about 100yds. at varmits or home protection. I realize that in ny you have to have a fixed brake to make it conform to nys laws. I guess my main question was and is any comments on dependabilty, problems with either gun.

Forget the 338 and get a browning in 325 short mag--I've had mine ported (shoulder problems and old age) and with handloads you can do whatever a 7 mag and a 338 mag can. I have a G36, had it for about a year now. Had it fitted with an internal laser. Great gun to carry and very accurate. I have a browning 9mm, colt combat commanders [lightweight] in 45 and 9mm and a couple of 1911s, the glock is always the one I carry now.
