I am looking for a scope to put on my first Ruger M77 MkII RSI in .308 which has the polished blue finish (not matte like the Hawkeye).
I do not want the scope to over power the gun or take away from the looks.
However, I want to be able to have a good picture and shoot deer up to 200 yards...
Saw a couple the other day
Ruger and their film crew were at the Picosa Ranch in December while I was there on a hunting trip. I handled the 30.06 and 308 and was impressed with the stock, balance and trigger. Both of the guys killed a nice deer on video which will air sometime later this year...
Thanks - the Mini Target with Hogue stock has a 22" heavy barrel, better trigger and it supposed to shoot 1" MOA at 100 yards. I know the "black guns" are more accurate but I just have not warmed up to them yet. I am still thinking of $800 for Ruger Target versus $1000 for the Rock River. You...
So a quality 3x9x40 or maybe 4x12x40 is plenty big and forget about the BDC. A quality rifle sighted in a 200 yards will certainly kill a coyote at 300 yards with a little practice at the range. I agree with the good glass comment as I only only Zeiss and Leupold currently.
Thanks!
I am considering the Ruger Mini-14 Target with synthetic stock and trying to decide on which scope to buy and install. I am sure that I will shoot it at the range for fun but mainly plan to hunt coyotes with it in South Texas. We do not get too many "second shots" in the brush county but it...
I hunt in South Texas and sometimes in New Mexico and Colorado.
I am considering the Leupold 12-40x60 in either the original or HD versions?
I have read good things about the Vortex Razor HD but what draws me to the Leupold is the 30mm eye relief and solid reputation of Leupold.
I...
scope for 1885
I shot my 1885 with new Leupold FX 4x33 and shot a 2" group of 5 shots at 100 yards. I am very pleased with the gun and scope with one reservation.
We had to turn the rear base backwards and it hangs over the breech slightly so that we could get the scope close enough to my...
Based on the feedback and discussions with 3 different Leupold techs I decided on and purchased a FX-II 4x33 Gloss and Leupold bases and rings. Should turn this nice gun into an efficient hunting machine up to 200 yards. Thanks!
I bought a new Winchester 1885 in 45-70 and love it.
The idea was to try to stalk deer or elk witht he idea of taking them with open sights.
I have purchased, installed and sighted in a new Skinner Peep sight.
It is a very nice product and Andy is a dream to work with.
I have it zeroed it @...
Hey guys - I am considering the new model ruger ranch rifle (223) for plinking and shooting varmints in south texas. I plenty of big guns and .22's but nothing in 223.
My thoughts are something to carry in the truck that is quick and easy to handle.
Blue or SS?
Wood or synthetic?
Scope...
