Cheapest, easiest way to trim a lot of .223 brass?

I bought a Giraud when I was faced with trimming thousands of cases. I can trim at a sustained rate of 15-16 a minute and hold the tolerance to .001. Smaller case are harder to hold than larger cases.

    Rear bag suggestions?

This is so true! :) I finally bought a funnel designed for filling bags. It sure cut down on the mess that I managed to make. I think it was made by MTM.

    I’ve got 99 cases…

It bothers me some but not to the point that I need treatment! (ain't that what we all say) Like Charlie said, I put that/those odd primers back in the box and put them on the shelf, not back in the sleeve. I do bullets the same way except I write how many of them are in the box.

    Powder cross contamination

I think Charlie has reasoned it out correctly. I also think you're wise to continue avoiding any cross contamination. I understand your question, "how much is too much" and I'm guessing that there are too many variables to get a real answer.

    Rear bag suggestions?

Any of the above mentioned factory made bags should work well for you. Like Nature Boy mentioned, Protektor and Edgewood make nice bags. Bags made from shot bags and bluejeans legs are probably better that wooden blocks. Treat yourself to a nice bag.

    so called cowboy "assault rifles"

I've got mixed feelings about them. It took a while for me to get my head wrapped around the idea. Neither my '73 Winchester nor my pre-64 model 94 will be getting a rail!

    Lyman brass dryer

I don't dry mine but I do wash them occasionally. I'll run them alone sometimes for an hour with just some Dawn. It seems to cut down on the occasional dull batch of brass that I get sometimes.

    Primer anvils??

I've never paid much attention to the anvil. I do save them and have a plastic jar nearly full. I'll take a look at them after while. I only save them to sell as scrap, I just don't see ever trying to reload them.

    Browning BAR

The one I had shot pretty well but you had to keep the sling swivel off of the front bag or it would throw that shot. It had a tight chamber and was one of the rifles that RCBS recommended using small base dies with, which I did. I don't see any reason that you couldn't shoot 7.62X 51 ammo in...

What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

Forster's little tool makes good smooth cuts once you get it set. I wonder if a good shop vac might pick up shot. Would be worth a try. To keep the thread on track, my future projects include inventorying my Prairie Dog ammo to see if I need to load any before May, getting the oldest Grandson...

    Trimming .30 Carbine brass

I watched that recently along with a few other WW1 and WW2 movies along with the Highwaymen. Love seeing those older shows and id'ing (is that a word?) those older weapons. But to keep the thread on track I use a Lyman trimmer with the universal chuck to trim 30 Carbine brass. Also on what...

What have you done in the reloading room today

I haven't done anything in there lately except a little housekeeping. I made a vow when we moved 1-1/2 years ago to keep my room and bench neater than I have in the past.

    Metric primers?

It would be interesting to see some actual measurements if anyone has several different brands and some good measuring tools. But for now I'm going to be sticking to CCI, Federal, RP or Winchester.

    Measuring Primer Seating Depth

Nice write-up! Great pictures too. The more I read about imported primers the less impressed I get! I wonder if the Ruag primers that we are starting to see have these issues? Plus 1 on the adult beverage!!!

I'd like a new rifle or barrel for long range, 1k and further. Who's?

If you are that heavily invested in the CM thats probably what I would go back with. Although most of your components could be sold for what you have invested in them. Most any of the custom barrels would serve you well. You might browse some on the AccurateShooter.com website. Lots of info on...

Jeez Louise, all I want is one hex bolt!

I suppose hardware selection varies by location. I never really thought about it. I recently moved from a small farming community and both parts stores and both implement dealers would have had that bolt. Heck, I probably had North of $5000 worth of bolts, nuts and washers in my home shop!

Do You Change Your Every Day Carry When Going On Lengthy Out of State Road Trips?

I voted no. I carry the same thing everywhere. When my Wife was alive She would always have Her's and I kept an extra magazine for both mine and Her's in the console of both vehicles. Now I just keep an extra mag in my truck.

Hopefully back into it this week.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties but it sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Take it easy and approach everything with caution. Best Wishes............
