Disdain for Younger Generations of Shooters: What's the Deal?

Kinda late to the party... You should see the way the older gentlemen look at me when I walk onto the firing line. I'm in my mid twenties, heavily tattoo'd, and generally have a "rough" look. They get quite surprised when the 1911 gets pulled from concealment for practice.

    Shotgun lengths of Michigan.

Yes, as long as you are the same owner from when the law was in effect. I assumed this was a new shotgun.

    Shotgun lengths of Michigan.

Yep, we got rid of that requirement. Although it was stupid you had to register such long guns, it was kinda nice being able to keep it loaded in your vehicle with a CPL

    Kimber problems

Sure, but use something easily removable, in case you need to make adjustments, or need to replace the sight How low? Most "combat" handguns use a "combat hold" sight alignment where the front sight covers what you want to hit. Or, if we're talking a few inches, you could need a shorter front...

Why do you carry a gun in the first place

Bad luck and misfortune follow me like a plague. I'm one of those people that trouble just finds me, no matter how much I keep to myself. In 5 years of carrying I've had the misfortune of drawing my weapon twice. Both situations I was minding my own damn business, and both times (I thank god...

Should I stay or should I go?

Some guns take a little getting used to. But IMO, if you can't put bullets where you want em within a few range trips, the guns just not for you. Sometimes it's really disheartening, but you'll find something better.

    Question about appendix carry

From pictures I've seen of your holster, there is zero degrees of cant. For someone as skinny as yourself, you need to tilt the gun, or it's going to wanna jut out. 9mmepiphany's suggestion for a Summer Special was a good one. Great idea for concealing, but it makes it so much harder to get...

    Mid-range 1911

Ask if he can order one. Or ask what his transfer fee is, and check out online shops, your options will open wide up.

    Mid-range 1911

Colt's website says the cheapest 1991 with those features MSRP's for $850. Figure street price is probably $7-750, that's within your budget.

    Mid-range 1911

Mine do too. But what I'm saying is why not buy a gun that already has a beaver tail GS, rather than buying a new gun and spending even more money adding one?

    Mid-range 1911

Why not just buy a 1911 that has all of the features you want? There's no sense in buying a GI style gun and then spending more money on adding features to it. And don't just go replacing things before A) you shoot it B) if there are issues, you know for certain what's causing them. A lot of...

    Homak safe issue

Unfortunately I don't think the safe has manual override keys. The keypad is not removable from the outside, and the batteries are replaced from the outside.

    Range Officer 9mm

Seen one today for $750. And every other gun there was overpriced by at least $100.

    Homak safe issue

I appreciate the feedback. I've owned the safe for 5 years, and this is the first time it's given me any sort of problems. The factory default code I was given was actually only 4 digits, but I've tried a few common five digit codes, like you mentioned.

    Homak safe issue

So I think the batteries I put in my Homak safe are almost dead. Both the red and green LEDs were on the other day, and wouldn't let me in the safe. Now it wants a 5 digit code to get in, but both codes (the one it came with, and the one I made for it) are only 4 digits. Homak CS is closed...

    DW Silverback. Finally it's mine

Dan Wesson has the best looking slides, in my opinion. Small, descreet and fancy lettering.

    Michigan CCW Signage

Been living in MI almost my whole life. I can count on one hand the times I've seen one of those signs, with the exception of court houses and post offices.

.38 Super in 9mm 1911 with only barrel change?

It's my understanding that a different ejector will be needed.

    1911 grips: standard or slim?

I love slim grips. I've been wanting to put a pair on mine, but just haven't felt like changing out the bushings.
